Hanley sixth in GP

MAYO’s Cameron Hanley placed Cas 2 sixth in the 1.60m Grand Prix at Hagen CSI****, Germany, last wekeend.

Cas jumped double clear in 47.84 seconds in the competitive four-star feature which was won by Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt and Chico 784, double clear in 44.21.

O’Donohue placed

JACK O’Donohue and Quanita jumped double clear in 33.28 seconds to place fourth in the 1.40m two phase class at Golega CSI*, Portugal, last Saturday.

Irish clear at Oliva

GALWAY’s Sven Hadley and Quanbell were double clear in 29.16 seconds in the 1.40m two phase at Oliva CSI***, Spain, last weekend. Swiss rider Niklaus Rutschi and Baloubelle CH win, double clear in 27.40.

Longford’s Aisling Byrne and Wellview Classic Dream (ISH) were double clear in 24.40 to take third place in a 1.40m two phase at Oliva.

Jung eyes top prize

GERMAN event rider Michael Jung posted a near perfect dressage test (34.1) on day one of the 2016 Rolex Kentucky three-day event with last year’s winner fischerRocana FST to put himself firmly in contention for the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing prize.The 11-year-old German Sport Horse mare owned by Michael’s parents Brigitte and Joachim has completed three CCI**** events in her career to date and never finished lower than second in any of them.

However Jung is being chased all the way by top American riders, mounted on Irish Sport Horses.

America’s Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp riding the 13-year-old gelding Fernhill by Night (ISH) is currently in second (43.0) behind Jung with America’s Philip Dutton, riding the 11-year-old gelding Fernhill Fugitive (ISH), in third place (43.1).
