TIMMY Doyle and Paul Beecher racked up wins in the last two rounds of the FBD Munster 1.20m Speed Series.
At Aglish Charity Gymkhana, on the lands of the Connery Family, Anne Waistell’s track saw some 53 horse and rider combinations cross through the start, with 27 of them getting into the second phase.
It was North Cork native Timmy Doyle who claimed the spoils riding Kay Doyle’s Casino B. The combination, who were third same series at Bandon Show, claimed victory by breaking the beam clear in a time of 33.51.
Second position was filled by Waterford man Francis Connors riding Oliver Twister, owned by Heffron Equine Ltd, who went clear in 34.40. Connors also filled third spot with Helen Connors’ East Wind F.
Claiming fourth was Colligan man Peter Moloney, riding Ann Foran’s grey gelding Ballyconery Wood, while fifth place went to another local, Tholm Keane, riding Tom Cahill’s six-year-old mare Newmarket Valentine. Lisa Hitchmough from Co Cork took sixth place with Cormac Hitchmough’s Sharoe Splendour.

Waterford man Paul Beecher claimed victory in the most recent round of the FBD series, winning with Seryna Van Kuelen’s seven-year-old mare Jade Van De Start. The pair crossed the line clear, in a time of 24.36, before going on to claim victory in the Munster Grand Prix after.
Claiming second spot was the locally-owned Cranny Chip Clover, owned by Flan McNamara and ridden by Jessica Burke. The pair crossed the line clear in a time of 24.53. Burke also slotted into third place with James Quinn’s chesnut mare Barracree Lux Q (25.74).
Fourth place went to Galway man Sven Hadley with Quanbell, while fifth went to Limerick’s David Moran and his 10-year-old stallion Derg Showtime. The final place in the line-up at the Co Clare venue went to Lorraine Young and Belfieldflight.
Action in the FBD 1.20m Munster Speed series now moves to Cork on Munster final day, Sunday, July 10th.
