CAVAN Equestrian Centre was a hive of activity last weekend as riders travelled from all over the country to compete in the annual End of Season Pony Show. Along with a host of other classes, the popular event also saw the conclusion of the Tansan Properties League final and the Cavan Kingsland League.

Tom Wachman’s journey from Tipperary may have been a long one but it was very worthwhile as he not only took the honors in the Tansan 1m qualifier but also led the victory lap in the n the 128cms 1.10m Tansan Grand Prix with Parc Epic.

In the 138cms 1.20m Grand Prix, it was Jason Foley on Ferryban Roy that emerged victorious while Kate Derwin on Vales Blue Melody claimed the title in the 148cms Tansan Properties final. This was Derwin’s third major win, having won the 138cms 1.10m qualifier aboard Small Titan and the 148cms 1.20m with Springhill Annora, while also finishing third with Vales Blue Melody.

The Cavan Kingsland League, which was a points-based league saw four champions being crowned. Taking the honors in the 128cms was James Russell. The 138cms joint winners were Jessica Moore and Lauren Carroll and the 148cms winner was Louise Mahon. Each of these riders received a €250 gift voucher for Cladem Equi Store.

The Coolmore-sponsored Grand Prix, as usual, went down to the wire. Taking the honours in the 148cms 1.20m Grand Prix was Robbie Clancy aboard I’m A Tom Boy.

It was a good weekend for Robyn Moran who first claimed the 128cms 90 Kingsland class and then went on to win the 138cms 1.10m Grand Prix with Western Oreo, followed by the 128cms 1m Grand Prix with Quarter Hero.

The 128cms 80cm under-10 class saw Rebecca Stack take the winner’s rosette with Cuffstown Queen, while the 148cms 90m championship went to Lucy Shanahan riding Sligo Touch Again.

The 148 cm 1m championship was claimed by Olivia Roulston riding Springview Mirtique and Roulston also took the honors in the 148cms 1.10m Grand Prix with Clover Dream.

The 90cm Erne Communications Services Ltd class saw Shane Moloney emerge as the winner following a great display with Cappagh Sparrow. This was the pair’s second win of the weekend, having also taken victory in the 138cms 1m Kingsland class. Later on, the 138cms 1m Erne Communications Services Ltd Championship was claimed by Ashley Dunne and Boten Anna.

With every point counting ,the Kingsland League classes proved very competitive. Victory in the 128cms 80cm went to Maisie Adams and Dimples Dilema, while Ciaran Nallon took the 138cms 90cm class with Drumcaughey Luidam Magic. The 148cms 1m class was won byLucy O’Sullivan and Mochulla Blue, while the 148cms 1.10m was claimed by Warrington-based Jack Ryan aboard Costellos Boy.

Taking both first and second in the 128cms 90cm Championship was Alex Finney with Some Journey in poll postion and Ballyknock Master Roan in second.
