DUNBYRNE Stud hosted the final leg of the Spring Linda Moore Show Jumping league last weekend where the O’Hare family’s course was built by Gueorgui Gueorguiev and riders were judged by Kitty Benson.

The final leg of competition allowed riding club members a last chance to earn points towards overall league results. The primary, advanced primary and sportsmans classes were the first to be held on the day and these were judged based on optimum time.

Four horse and rider combinations started in the primary class and two of these managed a clear round. Helen Doyle from Ballyteague RC was clear closest to the optimum time to win the class with Toby, while Ros Burke and Cisco from Moyglare RC placed second. The advanced primary class had 10 entriesand resulted in four clear rounds. Colman Larkin and Shadow from Moyglare were clear closest to the optimum time earning them first place. Pamela Braithwaite and Ronnie from Cill Dara were second in this class.

The sportsmans class had three entries and was won by Fiona O’Dwyer and Dark Defender from Cill Dara.

With 18 entries, the intermediate class was the largest on the day and the track proved a challenge, with just three horse and rider combinations completing a clear round. A three-way jump-off resulted in Two of the three riders going clear against the clock. Margaret McCumiskey and Sheena from Celbridge stopped the clock on 36.61 seconds to win, ahead of Eamonn Moore and Big Ger from Abbeylands on 40.11.

The advanced intermediate class was also decided by a jump-off as six of the original 11 entrants progressed to jump against the clock. Five of these were also clear in the jump-off. Paul Tarpey and Craobh Cassana from Old Mill RC were the fastest clear round, winning on 37.8 seconds. Olwyn Butler and Santero from Greenhills were second with a clear round in 39.15. The open class had two entries and first place went to Lorna Flanagan from Killcarrick RC as she and Killnamona Condy rode the only clear round. Dolores Ruth and Run DMC Z from Dunbyrne RC were second with just four faults. The overall league results will be announced in the coming weeks by the West Leinster Region and prizes will be awarded at a prize giving event.
