SHANE Dalton did the business at Headford Show on Sunday when he won the third leg of the Sunshine Windows & Doors Connaught Grand Prix League, sponsored on the day by The Anglers Rest Hotel and Joyce’s supermarket.

Riding Pat Prendergast’s Belfields Captain, Dalton was best of the 33 starters to take on Paul Duffy’s well-designed course. Some 13 combinations went through to the jump-off.

Fourth into the fray was Olive Clarke riding Hillside De Reve and she set the standard with a clear round in 53.28.Her lead was short-lived, however, as Shane Dalton then produced his winning round in 44.80.

Sven Hadley on Quanbell jumped clear in 52.59 to move into second place but Clarke, keen to increase on her share of the prize money put in a great effort on Captains Call and, going clear in 47.90, she took Hadley down a notch and moved to second place.

Darren Hopkins was the fastest four-faulter in 44.82 and finished fifth.

Sixth, seventh and eighth places were filled by Shane Goggins and Defi Big Time, Cormac Rafferty on KMR Benzini and Paul Duffy riding Puesta de Sol.
