GALWAY young rider Tim MacDonagh came out on top in Saturday’s 1.35m jump-off with his mother Jackie Lee’s Tick Tock Tina.
Some 61 combinations went to post in the Gain Equine Nutrition-sponsored class and MacDonagh was the only one to stay within the 30-second barrier when clocking 29.34 to take the winner’s share of €2,000.
Bred by Brendan Noone from Galway, Tick Tock Tina is by Beowulf and out of the Diamond Lad-sired Coevers Diamonds Sister.
A half-sister, Diamonds For Douglas (by Ard VDL Douglas), who was also bred by Noone, was competed at three-star level by Alexander Butler in 2015.
Louis Deplace and Lowhill Showdown kept all the poles in place in a slower time of 30.58, ahead of Eddie Moloney and Jessey Van Heide in 31.63.
American Veronica Tracey and Daify were fractions behind when they broke the beam in 31.67 for eventual fourth, ahead of her trainer Greg Broderick and Jim Derwin’s Deep Pockets, also clear in a time of 33.77 for fifth.
Tom Aherne and Any Questions filled sixth place.
