LAST Sunday’s very wet morning in Killossery Lodge Stud started with the Secondary Schools individual class. Some 21 combinations went to post and it was Natalie Larkin, competing for Scoile Mhuire and riding You Two, who posted a double clear in a time of 28.65 seconds to once again came out on top. Larkin has now won four legs of the league and is in contention to take the overall league title for this year.

Coming in second place was Katie Attley riding Sheebas Boy for St Joseph’s Rush, in a time of 30.85, and in third was Ciara O’Sullivan riding Dale for Loreto St Stephen’s Green. In fourth was Lily Mai McDowell for Dundalk Grammer, fifth was Lily Nadar for Alexander College and in sixth place came Elle Collins, also representing Alexander College.

In the BUCAS-sponsored Secondary Schools team event, it was the the all-girl trio of Chloe Rogers, Kate Barrett and Ally Gormley from Loreto Balbriggan who prevailed, beating the Loreto St Stephen’s Green team of Ciara O’Sullivan, Annie Madden, Eabha Toole and Kate Horgan into second place.

With both Loreto Balbriggan and Loreto St Stephen’s Green having been consistent throughout the league, all is perfectly set up for the final on February 4th.

In third place was the mixed team from Sutton Park and Rush which consisted of Lucy Quinn, Kevin Attley, Katie Attley and Ellen O’Dea who posted the fastest four-fault score of the competition. In fourth was the Belvedere team of Jack Lord, Mina Maguire, Iona Finnerty and Sarah McNally. The Dunshaughlin team of Hallie Crowe, Charlotte Dillon, Aoife Bawle and Julie Forest took fifth, while sixth went to the Loreto Swords team of Blaithnaid O’Scanaill, Nahia McKitterick and Siofra Ni Scanaill.

PRIMARY

With the rain easing slightly, the primary interschools took centre stage in the afternoon. First up was the novice individual competition. A total of 11 combinations jumped and the class was divided four ways between Imogen Horgan (Fleur) for St. Andrew’s NS, Elouise Creighton (Star) for Gaelscoile Mhic Aodha, Nano Creighton (Krusty) also for Gaelscoile Mhic Aodha and Ruby McMorrow (Strider) for Dunsany NS.

Next up was the open individual competitors, there was a large entry of 34 competitors in the open section of the primary schools and it proved to be a competitive class with 22 registering double clears.

Phoebe Horgan riding Fleur for St Andrew’s NS once again proved to be unbeatable, as she tightened her grip on the overall league by registering her fifth win, stopping the clock in 27.05. Coming in second place and just over one second behind the winner, was Ellen McGrath riding Rusty, representing Rathbeggan NS. In third place came Alex O’Connor riding Tweety for St. Michael’s, in fourth was Holly Peppard riding Honey for Dangan NS, in fifth came Lily Cormican riding Lippy for St. Andrews and in sixth was Sadhbh Tormey riding Lady Jame for Gaelscoile Ashbourne.

The final class of the day saw 10 primary teams entered for the jumpingaction.net Primary Interschools Team competition, four progressed to a hard fought jump-off.

Two quick clear rounds saw the Rathcoffey team of Niall Fitzgerald, Ellen McDonald, Sean Coulston and Harry McNamee take the victory. In second place was the St. Mary’s team of Lucy O’Connell, Niall O’Sullivan, Dara O’Sullivan and Sophie Mahon. In third, just over a second behind, came the team from Kildangan of Hannah Groves, Caitlin Harrington, Ruth Schofield and Eva O’Shoughnessy. St Andrew’s Curragha were fourth, and posted more league points in what has been a consistent run, from their team of Grace Toole, Kirsty Green, Phoebe Horgan and Lily Cormican.

In fifth place, and registering the fastest four faults, came the Gaelscoile Na Boinne trio of Adam Lord, Kater Evans and Meabh Long. In sixth place was the Dangan NS team of Holly Peppard, Marnie Gilroy, Sophie Killian and Caitlin Woods.
