IT was a case of all or nothing for amateur riders at Tubberbride for the final round of Dublin Horse Show qualifiers. As in previous rounds, it went down to the wire with the top eight delivering triple clears and, in the jump-off, coming home within 33 seconds.

Taking the win was AA rider Lorna Power with Burrin Equestrian Rafiki, when they galloped home in 29.72 seconds. From Waterford, Lorna Power has clocked up a series of good results in the amateur ranks over the last few months.

Burrin Equestrian Rafiki is a 13-year-old gelding by Guidam out of Imiko Imp. The horse has plenty of experience having also been campaigned by Tholm Keane up to 1.20m for a short period in 2018.

Fellow AA Michael Floody was hot on the winner’s heels, as he crossed the line aboard Pikachus Son in 30.40. Floody will be making a welcome return to the RDS having qualified in 2015. Little separated the next placings as AA rider Darragh McMahon and Sunnyside Boy stopped the clock in 30.54, just ahead of A rider, Darragh Killoran and Killahurler Just in Time, clear in 30.75.

It was a worthwhile trip from Limerick for A rider Marie Crosse and St. Helene, as a clear in 31.24, ensured her eventual fifth, while AA rider Jenny Horgan and Mynta van S was less than a second behind in a time of 32.18 for sixth. Jennifer Leeper put in a great attempt and almost caught Crosse, as she clocked 32.19 with Ardragh Cordubh, for seventh place. Slotting into eight was Amy Walsh and Keylogues Gold, clear in 32.54. Walsh had been unlucky in the round at Ballinamona having recorded four faults in the final round.

They also made it to the third round in Galway but finished on eight faults. The combination won’t be two fazed by the RDS, having qualified in 2017.

Please note these results are provisional and will be confirmed by SJI closer to the Dublin Horse Show.
