AT Mullingar Equestrian Centre, the Amateur ‘A’ Irish Farmers Journal series came to an exciting finale with seven of the 35 proceeding to the jump-off. Leading the victory lap was Laura Walshe and Ballinaguilkey Heritage when they lodged the winning clear in 38.16. Walshe was chased home by Katy Scott and Paeona Du Mesnil (39.24). Accounting for third place was Tara Fergus and Tirconaill River Rose (39.78). Breda Perrin and Erronagh Sky were fourth, clear in 42.87 ahead of Amy Wilson and Vagabond, clear in 45.52. In sixth was Nicola Walshe who recorded the fastest time of 36.93 aboard Cluainin Robb, but a pole down proved expensive.

The Waltzing Weasel Amateur Welcome Stakes saw a win for Kilkenny’s Gemma Drennan and God’s Gift, clear in 26.31. Mary Corcoran and Super Connected were second (28.41), while Joanna Hyland and Queen Lu maintained a clean sheet in 29.19 for third. Shane Broughal and Hello Miss Moneypenny were fourth (29.21) ahead of Gary Graham and Kilkfane Inspiritation (30.44). Completing the top-six line-up were Dani Murphy and Thornfield Dubh, clear in 30.52.

Aileen McDermott added to her record with victory in the National Amateur Dingo Final. In total, 40 started from which 12 double clears were delivered. McDermott was the fastest aboard Amber Balou in 28.99. Jacqui Boland and Maverick Na Rí put in a gallant bid to clock 29.78 ahead of Alexandra Bailey and Callie LVS Z in 31.84. Aideen Murphy and Derg Master left everything in place in 31.88 for fourth ahead of Marie Hartley and Kilpatrick Fred fifth in 32.33. A clear from Amanda Glynn and Cartenio in 33.09 saw them take sixth place.

McDermott landed a double as she won the Horseware Ireland Amateur Super League Final. Riding Amber Balou, she lodged the winning clear in 33.26. Runner-up was Lorraine Younge with Belfiedflight, clear 37.06. The last of the double clears and slotting into third was Gemma Drennan with Gods Gift in 41.69. Aideen Kirbey and Derg Masterpiece were fastest of the four faulters in 35.44 for fourth, ahead of Darragh McMahon and Sunnyside Boy who had one on the floor in 36.17. Derrick Burke and Tyreda Chip faulted once and crossed the line in 55.73 for sixth.
