ORLA Cassidy and her own nine-year-old mare Bridgemans Olympic Star (Harlequin Du Carel – Olympic Lux) won last Sunday’s 1.30m Championship two-phase class at Cavan Equestrian.

A double clear round in a time of 33.25 proved best of the 25 starters to secure Cassidy the top-spot.

Runner-up was Madeline Roberts Allen riding her own Celah Sue De Rialfo Z in 33.87, while third place went to David Harrison’s Mosstown Lils Angel, ridden by Robert Harrison, who stopped the clock at 35.92.

Grand Prix winner Olive Clarke and Yvonne Meaney’s Norway Venture took fourth place, Patrick Hickey and GRS Lady Amaro were fifth and Clem McMahon and Gary McNamara’s Legaland Team Spirit finished in sixth place.

In the 1.20m Championship, Paul Carberry emerged the victor with his own Brandonview First Edition. The pair broke the finish beam in a very fast time of 29.01 to head proceedings.

Second place went to Morningside Stud’s Ballistic M2S, ridden by Tori Dunn, in 31.08 while third was last to go Jimmy Cooke and Clare Hynes’s Carraigh Samraigh, partnered by Lisa Gerbola Bushaway, to a second phase time of 31.09).

Paul McDermott slotted into fourth place with Michael Lillis’s Portglorian Cruise while fifth was Richard Kerins and the Pat Gallagher-owned Carralavin Cruise. Linda Courtney’s daughter Annie finished in sixth place aboard LCC Bond.

Aislinn Traynor dominated in the 1.10m final taking the win with her own mare For Lucy. As the penultimate rider to go, Traynor had plenty of time to observe the competition before snatching the win in 25.21.

William Lapsley’s Altaskin Prince and Donal O’Connor finished as runner-up in 30.34 while third place went to Angela Kosko and Kevin Gallagher’s Painrich in 31.86 and fourth was Regula Wassner’s Cote D’Azure, ridden by Kenneth Grahamin, in 33.41. Alex Gilheany slotted into fifth place with Banjo D’Eve PL, while Brendan Murphy and Sandra Duffy’s Ecklands Helado were sixth.
