Allen double

BERTRAM Allen recorded a win in last Saturday’s 1.30m class in Vejer with Eva, while Jack Dodd finished sixth aboard Christy JNR. Allen also took the winner’s prize in the 1.20m final with Faitytale.

Allen was best of the Irish in the 1.45m Grand Prix, finishing fourth with Quarto Mail while Dodd finished eighth with Wrangler.

Dodd also finished as runner-up in a 1.35m class with Wild Thing L, two places ahead of Allen with Valentino VZ.

Top 10 finish

GERMAN-based Irish rider Josephine Sorensen recorded two top 10 finishes at Offenburg in Germany last Saturday.

Sorensen finished eighth in a 1.40m class with Savanna while the same partnership finished ninth in a 1.30m speed class.

Sunshine tour

IRISH riders were in winning form on the opening days of the Spanish sunshine tour at Vejer De La Frontera near Cadiz last week.

Saudi Arabian-born Sheikh Samir Mirdad, who now competes for Ireland, filled the top-two places in last Saturday’s 1.10m class.

He took the winner’s prize with the Irish Sport Horse gelding Mirdads Boooraaaq Alrahmaaan, who is by Ard VDL Douglas, while he finished second with Mirdads Baaab Al Rayyyan.

Sheikh Samir was also in prolific form in another 1.10m class last Thursday, where he filled four of the top five places.

Hadley win

SVEN Hadley and the Irish Sport Horse Realt Na Carraig (by Lux Z out of a dam by Royal Renown), recorded a win in last Saturday’s 1.30m class at the Costa Del Sol Tour at Mijas in Spain.

Hadley also finished fifth in another 1.30m class with Wood Stock De Breve.

Lynch third

DENIS Lynch added to his world ranking points tally with a third place finish in a 1.50m ranking class at Braunschweig in Germany last Friday.

Lynch partnered Zamora to a double clear round in the four-star competition behind Germany’s Christian Ahlmann with Colorit.

Polo podium

THE Irish team of Keelan McCarthy (captain), Christopher Pritchard and Giles Bromley-Martin finished third at last weekend’s SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) international arena polo tournament at Rugby Polo Club. England took the winner’s trophy with USA finishing as runners-up.
