THE Ryan family’s Tipperary Equestrian Centre in Thurles was the venue last Sunday for the Irish Pony Society Tipperary Area’s summer show where the organisers were delighted with the great turnout.

The supreme champion of the show was the Mountain and Moorland working hunter champion Seafield Turnog Moss (Drumbad Fletcher Moss - Furbo Primrose, by Atlantic Tiger), a four-year-old Connemara stallion ridden by Pauline Dahill for owners Gill and John Glynn. Isabel Crews stood reserve supreme on the novice working hunter champion, the six-year-old Connemara mare Drumlin Isobel (Hillside Joker - Doolin Breeze, by Ashfield Storm Cloud).

Philippa Braddish won the working hunter mini championship, the Mountain and Moorland ridden mini championship and, finally, the show’s mini supreme championship on her mother Jodie Moran’s Pinewell Storm, a 15-year-old Welsh Section A gelding. On claiming the overall mini title, Philippa was thus the first recipient of the Peter Ponsonby memorial cup.

The reserve supreme mini champion was the show hunter pony mini champion Holthall Karys, a five-year-old Welsh mare ridden by Molly Mae Nee for Melissa O’Connor Murphy.

The show’s overall starter stakes champion was the show pony class winner Creganna Lorenzo, an 11-year-old bay gelding ridden by Emily Palmer for her mother Cathriona. The reserve championship slot was filled by the open working hunter class winner, Darkly Julie, a 12-year-old dun mare ridden by Abbey Cassidy for her mother Catherine.

Also from the working hunter ring came the show’s Intermediate champion, the 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Leestone Conbreaker (Connor 48 - Acajou van het Kloosterhof, by Heartbreaker), who was ridden by Jessica Murphy for her mother Melissa. Second to that bay in their open class and reserve Intermediate champion was the ISH gelding Krafty Tim Hunt (Krafty Clover - Waris, by Carroll House), an eight-year-old grey ridden by Emily Marnane for her mother Melanie.

Other title winners during the day were the John Doolan-ridden Goldengrove Juliet (performance jumping and part-bred ridden), the Kate Fitzgerald-partnered Lehid Paddy (novice show hunter pony), the Lily Donohoe-ridden Whychwood Honey Kitten (show pony), the Pauline Dahill-partnered Glencairn Cruise (ridden Connemara), the Rebecca Fleming-ridden Whiteleaze Temptation (mini show pony) and Moonlite Montgomery Cruise (in-hand).

The day’s judges were Kathy Geoghegan Curley, Terri Manning, Aidan Williamson and Faith Ponsonby.
