ELLA Moran signed off her 2026 showing campaign last Saturday at the Limerick/Clare Area show in Ballynort where, riding her father Keith’s Scalacre Eclipse in Irish Pony Society company for the final time, she won the show hunter pony title and then went supreme champion.

Speaking of the 17-year-old gelding by Rotherwood Peeping Tom and her 14-year-old niece, whom she coaches, Jodie Moran commented: “We owe the world to this gorgeous pony. He has been a pleasure to produce and has given us days out that we’ll never ever forget. He taught Ella so much, from a trip to HOYS, winning at Balmoral and Dublin, and so many championships and supremes.”

While connections might find a new jockey for the bay in the seasons ahead, he’ll do some Pony Club activities with Ella over the winter and will also be found on the hunting field. The reserve supreme was Sarah Jane Sinnott’s in-hand champion, the 17-year-old Connemara stallion Shanbo Rory (Rory Rasputin - Kiltogorra Kate, by Mervyn Pookhaun).

Imogen Lawless Greene had a good day, winning the working hunter pony championship on her mother Margaret’s six-year-old bay mare Moonlite Gone With The Wind and the Intermediate title with Elizabeth Ryan’s Irish Sport Horse gelding Ballycoskerry Jacobite, a six-year-old son of Jackaroo.

Another rider to complete a double was Isobel Stapleton, who landed the Connemara championship on the five-year-old Dunally Lad grey Breaffy Arthur and the performance championship with Mairead Ryan’s new Luna. The 16-year-old 136cm black Welsh mare Popsters Last Laugh claimed the Mountain and Moorland title under Caroline Hamilton. The Moran yard also made its mark in the mini section, where Jodie’s daughter Philippa Braddish won the show hunter pony championship on the five-year-old Shilstone Rocks Day of Fury gelding Newoak Hot Gossip. She also won the Mountain and Moorland title on the 15-year-old Welsh gelding Pinewell Storm, who then stood supreme ahead of the working hunter champion, the Enzo Rocca Houlihan-partnered Proclins Prince Charming, another 15-year-old Welsh gelding.

Stephanie Fleming won the mini show pony championship on Orla Whelton’s 17-year-old mare Whiteleaze Secret Temptation.
