AS always, there was a good turnout for the Aloga Equestrian Five and Six-year-old Handicap Championship class at Bannow and Rathangan Show, with a generous prize fund of €3,000 up for grabs, along with €500 for the highest-placed five-year-old, which was sponsored by Rathangan Bar.

Taking the win was Oisin Aylward and the six-year-old Paraldine D, when recording a double clear round in 37.51 seconds. This KWPN mare is by Liamant W and is out of the Zirocco Blue VDL-sired dam, Koraldine D.

The pairing have been on form of late, taking third in the six-year-old Dublin qualifier at Barnadown.

Brendan Murphy returned to the line-up, taking second place with Rory Finnerty’s CBI Chamano, who also kept the poles in place, albeit in 40.17. This gelding is by Chacco Blue II and out of Quainton Cha Cha Cha.

Shane Kenny and Ella Diva NN Z was highest-placed of the five-year-olds, taking third with a clear in 41.02. A mare, by Eldorado van de Zeshoek and out of Elise van het Scheefkasteel Z.

Murphy returned to take fourth with the Cooley Farm-owned six-year-old, Cooley Origin Blue, with a clear in 41.27. Bred by Jennifer Robinson, the gelding is by Zircco Blue VDL and is out of Ardragh Dancing Queen.

Mark Cleary kept all the poles in their cups aboard Barry Horan’s five-year-old Acerola Z in 42.30 for fifth place. This Zangersheide mare is by Aganix du Seigneur Z and out of Cocaine Alpha Z.

Completing the top six was Jack Ryan and the six-year-old Galwaybay Jim, clear in 42.49. Bred by Justin Burke, the gelding is by Catoki and is out of the Kannan-sired dam, Galwaybay Anika.
