FOR those riders not competing in the international classes, there was plenty on offer in the national arenas at Mullingar CSI2* show, from young horse classes to amateur classes.
On Friday, 38 combinations lined out in a bid to take the Jack Ryan-sponsored five-year-old Young Horse Masters Final, which boasted a prize fund of €3,000. Fahey was chased home by Rhys Williams and Parc Dakota, who also kept the poles in place, albeit in a slower time of 31.87. Junior rider Lily Slattery made it look easy, as she partnered her father Gabriel’s Captain Acorad Man to a clear in 32.42 for third. A clear from Shane Treanor aboard Gerry Marron’s Kinmar Rustanza P in 33.81 saw them take fourth.
It was a good day for Kilkenny’s Eddie Moloney, as he took the next two placings. Moloney secured fifth with his own Soco Flex, when delivering a clear in 33.81. Less than a second behind with the Kilcreene Enterprises-owned Alpha SRC in 34.12, he also took home sixth place.
