IT was a busy week for Millstreet, as it played host to the Five-Star and Super Star Tour last week, with the grand finals taking centre stage last Wednesday.

In the €1,000 four-year-old youngster tour final, it was Jamie Landers and the Killian Browne-owned Emerentia Z that took the win when they delivered the only double clear. This mare is by Eldorado Van De Zeshoek and out of Dollar Lady. Taking the runner-up spot was Heidi Hamilton and Victorious Vinny, who had one down in the second round. Bred by Rory Goodwin, the gelding is by Vittorio and out of Daisy Duke.

Later in the day, victory in the Jim Derwin-sponsored five-year-old final was shared by Mark Neilan (Jacks Harper) and John Maguire (ESI Maryland), when they both came home clear in 38.39. Leinster rider Ella Duignan and Vamako Van Den Heuvel took third when they kept all the poles in place in 39.41. David Splaine was last of the double clears with Coolcorran Cool Commander, in 42.73 for fourth. Slotting into fifth was Christian Kennedy and Coastal Storm, collecting a single time fault in the first round, ahead of Emma Hassett and Oughterard Kaiden, who was the fastest four-faulter.

Winner of the Mares of Macha-sponsored six/seven-year-old final was Zara Finlay aboard the six-year-old Castlebridge Annapurna with a double clear in 35.24 seconds. Jamie Landers followed closely behind with William Kennedy’s seven-year-old KEC Valdavici, clear in 36.74. Accounting for third place was Mark Duffy and Mr Priority with a clear in 37.37, ahead of Alex Owens, who partnered Anne Marie O’Gorman’s six-year-old Utah De La Liniere to a clear in 37.70. Maura Counihan Jnr and the John Higgins-owned six-year-old LNG Ivy League delivered the last double clear in 38.77 for fifth place, while in sixth was Robbie Clancy and the six-year-old Lough Na Phuca, on four faults in 35.77.

Superstars

Victory in the €1,500 Superstars Tour 1.35-1.40m Grand Final for the Shane Dalton Memorial Trophy Barry Cup went to Katie Deane and the Paula Farrell-owned seven-year-old Venerate, when they recorded the only clear in 72.99. Christian Kennedy and Lagans OBOS Quality were fastest of the four-faulters in 77.38.

In the €1,000 David Blake Pinehollow Farm Five-Star 1.25-1.30m Grand Final, victory went to junior Munster rider, Victoria Darcy and the eight-year-old Piloua PS, when they were fastest of three double clears in 36.51. She was chased home by Aoife Leonard and J’Adore, who clocked 38.15. Slotting into third was Jamie Landers and the eight-year-old Nigel Blue, in a time of 38.47.

Claiming victory in the €1,000 Three-Star 1.05m/1.10m Abbey Upholstery-sponsored final was Jamie Landers and the eight-year-old Rossmount Quincy, when clear in 33.73. Mark Neilan returned to the line-up to take second with New Haven Star, when they kept all the poles in place in 35.36. Katie Tobin put in a very fast time with Simply Casanova, clocking 32.53, but with a pole on the ground, she had to settle for third place.

Taking the Baby Star 80-85cm IJL Construction final was Eloise McLoughlin and Bolero Dell’Attiva, when they recorded the only double clear of the class. Claiming the Coolcorran Sporthorses One-Star 85-90cm Grand Final was Louise O’Brien and Moneyquid Charmer, with a clear in 37.02. Amateur Kilkenny rider, Gemma Drennan and Cool Finesse took the Two-Star 95cm-1m Mountfield Kitchens-sponsored final, when they kept all the poles in place in 24.85.
