BAD weather last weekend didn’t deter pony riders on Saturday as they travelled to Barnadown to contest the Tailored Equestrian Leinster Pony Championships.

Jack Derwin and Ginger Rodgers took the win in the 128cm 85cm under 10s when they came home clear in 29.79. He was chased home by Ted Dooley and Skrædderdals Madonna who was clear in 35.51. Third place was filled by Saoirse Murphy and Sparkling Lackaghmore Katie, clear in 33.83.

It was a good day at the office for Ruby Kelly, as she took first and second in the 128cm 90cm. She landed the win with Trasnagh Sandstorm, clear in 32.43, and second with Killoran Bob, clear in 32.60. Kelly also took the runner-up place in the 128cm 1m with Killoran Bob. Later in the day, she went on to claim the 138cm 1m with the Little Red Baron, clear in 27.75, beating off her closest opponent, Ronan Duffy and Midnight Sky Cedar (28.08).

Winner of the 128cm 60cm was Laura Lawlor when they came closest to the optimum time, while Erin Langrell and Barackas Dream took the win in the 50cm.

Winner of the 128cm 1m was Harvey Oscar Foley and Bossinova, when they put in a very fast clear in 30.33. Annie Hughes Kennedy added to her record when taking third with Hes A Touch of Magic, clear in 31.48.

Caoimhe Coleman and Little Bamboo took the win in the 128cm 70cm with a clear in 33.99, ahead of Gracie Kelly and Neuaddparc Proud Mary (34.24). Jack O’Connell and Annagh Connie took third place (35.70).

A clear from Ted Dooley and Skrædderdals Madonna saw them take the win in the 128cm 80cm, ahead of Matthew Roche and Milos (32.23). Jake Cousins and Bronheulog Georgia took third when they came home clear in 34.24.

O’Neill on form

Ava O’Neill claimed first and second in the 138cm 1.10m coming home clear with Tynagh Sunshine in 30.62 and Flashdance Billy in 31.15. Third place was taken by Chantal Whitehead and Sergent Jack, clear in 31.33.

Winner of the 148cm 90cm was Louisa Daisy Dalton and Monarch of the Glen, when they put in a blistering clear round in 30.41. This combination also took second place in the 148cm 1m with a clear in 28.12.

Claiming victory in the 148 1.10m six/seven-year-old was Lillymai Walsh and the seven-year-old Chapel Hill Chino when they produced the fastest round in 31.59. Second place was occupied by Max Galway and Imagine River, another seven-year-old, clear in 31.67, while in third was Ruben Foley and Sparkling Hawkeye 18 (33.82).

Foley went on to take the win in the 148cm 1.20m with Wineport Q Junior, clear in 27.55, beating off the challenge from James Cleary and Milchem Original (28.11).

Taking the top podium position in the COH/junior 1.10/1.20m Handicap was Chloe Walsh and Corky Rocks, clear in 27.84, ahead of Robbie Sheehan and Fubalia (28.85). Third was filled by Lucy McCarthy and Maggiemae, clear in 29.02. McCarthy also claimed victory in the 148cm with Gorm with a very fast clear in 27.02.
