ON Sunday, Glenamaddy’s Connaught Grand Prix Show played host to the pony divisions and, with the sun shining, all classes attracted big entries.

The Equillence U10 85cm Connaught league saw a win for Sophie Hawkshaw and Ice Ty De Noon, when they delivered a double clear in 39.22 seconds. Joscelyn Leonard was back in the ribbons for another week, claiming second with Cefngelli Sherry with a clear in 51.21. Last week’s winner, Cian Murtagh and Little Miss Lightning took third when they were fastest of the four-faulters in 71.92. Saoirse Leonard accounted for fourth when she had a pole down with Kyneton Snipe in 81.90.

128 victory

The 128 90cm class saw 16 go to post and, from those, five delivered double clears. Taking this victory was Lillie Cash and JSB Hidden Secret, when they stopped the clock in 35.19. Ben Hawkins accounted for second and fourth places. He delivered his best result with Smokey Astral, coming home in 35.39. He then delivered a clear with Bronheulog Rose Child in 38.67. Thomas Tully accounted for third with Rdjw Princess, delivering a clear in 36.32. Last of the double clears and taking fifth place was Jack Rush and Hoge Linthorst Ali B, in a time of 39.23. Elaine Briscoe took sixth with Strawberry Swirl II, when she finished on eight faults in a time of 48.71.

Speedy win

Leading the victory lap in the Connaught league 138 1m class was Reese Keane and KMR Ice Surprise, when they were fastest of four double clears in 31.66 seconds. Ella Cash was Keane’s closest rival, delivering a clear in 35.33 with JSB Hidden Oilean. It was a good day for the Hawkins family, as Tim and Milchem Just Magic took third, with a clear in 38.44, while in fifth was Katie McMunn and Hembys Florian, clear in 38.73. Fifth place belonged to Niamh Delaney and Rhos Enterprise, finishing as the fastest four-faulter in 34.10, ahead of Amber Tobin and Harry Finn, who also had one down, albeit in a slower time of 34.77.

148 success

There was a good turnout for the 148 1.10m class, with 27 combinations going to post and, from those, just four double clears were delivered.

Taking the win was Ronan Gilvarry and Dexter Leam Prancer when they galloped home in a time of 35.55. Less than a second behind was Joshua Broderick and Greenfield Star, who crossed the line in 36.23. Luke Sweeney put in a gallant attempt, but a clear in 37.49 saw them take third place. Last of the double clears was Zara Sharkey and Special Captain in a time of 38.21. Alayna Hawkins proved out of luck when she had one on the ground with Highburren Rose in a time of 37.61, while in sixth was Amy Roche and Alice Cruise Royale, carrying four faults in 37.81.
