ON Sunday, the 148cm 1.10m class at Corrandulla Show saw 17 go to post and it was certainly Luke Sweeney’s day, as he took both the win and second place. Riding Tullymurry Sunshine, he galloped home clear in 35.89. Riding his second mount, Orchid’s Atilla, he maintained a clean sheet although in a slower time of 37.01. Jack Derwin and Rincoola Babog took third, when they kept all the poles standing in 39.42, ahead of Amy Roche and Alice Cruise Royale, clear in 40.42. Alayna Hawkins and Highburren Rose accounted for fifth place with a clear in 50.95, ahead of James Cleary and the six-year-old Abbi BW, when they had one on the ground in 36.63.
Double clear
Leading the victory lap in the 138cm 1m was Niamh Delaney and Kisheen, when they were the fastest of just two double clears in 34.38 seconds. Tim Hawkins and the five-year-old Carraghy Spice was the only other clear in 35.21.
Just one double clear was delivered in the Equillence Under 10 128cm 85cm Connaught Show jumping Open Pony League class and that came courtesy of Joscelyn Leonard and Cefngelli Sherry in a time of 61.88. Cian Murtagh and Little Miss Lightning had one down in the first round in 67.07.
Jack Derwin took the win in the 128cm 90cm class, when he partnered Ginger Rodgers to a clear in 27.23. Derwin also took fifth with Deelside Dolly, coming home with a clean sheet in 30.50. The next two placings were occupied by Ben Hawkins. He delivered his best result with the five-year-old, Glenford Tammy, clear in 29.29, for second and returned to take third with LSR Trinity, with another clear in 29.44. Slotting into fourth was Kaleigh Dolan and Ballyskeagh Lady, clear in 29.81. Completing the top six was Elaine Briscoe and The Glimmer Man, clear in 33 seconds.
