MAXIMUM Numero Too, owned and ridden by Sven Hadley, won the DAFM/Horse Sport Ireland Studbook show jumping series for seven-year-olds at Galway Equestrian Centre held on Bank Holiday Monday.
By Aganix Du Seigneur, out of Couple of Diamonds by Numero Uno, he was bred by Eamon McArdle and moved up to 1.35m this year.
Twenty-two horses lined out for the class and, of these, just nine provided a first round clear. Hadley was fastest of these, stopping the clock at 27.82 for the win and the lion’s share of the €2,880 prize fund.
Kristina O’Neill’s Coco Douglas (Ard VDL Douglas x Pacino), bred by Maria Griffin, was ridden into the runner-up spot by Tom Foley in 28.50.
Third went to Stephen Gibbons aboard Jane Gibbons’ Ceide Candy Heart (Garryduff Jar of Hearts x Sligo Candy Boy), bred by Mary Walsh in 29.22.
Equinimity’s Trulli Sassy NA (Button Sitte x Quidam de Revel) was ridden into fourth by Eddie Maloney in 32.94, while Catriona Fallon and her own home-bred gelding Biden (Celtic Hero x Calikot Hero) took fifth.
James Egan’s mare Chacontha S Konzert PS (Chacoon Blue x Conthargos) and Nicholas Butler completed the line up in sixth.
In the five-year-old division, 44 combinations lined out. Some 29 of these managed to produce a double clear round for a share in the €1,800 prize pot.
In the six-year-old equivalent, again 44 horses started with 25 leaving all the poles in place to divide the €2,000 on offer. (See results on pages 107-109).
The next, and fifth round of the DAFM young horse series takes place this weekend May 10th and 11th in Barnadown.
