CORICK House Hotel and Spa in Clogher, Co Tyrone welcomed the Ulster Region of Show Jumping Ireland on Saturday, January 10th, as they celebrated members’ achievements throughout 2025 and presented them with numerous awards.
The Ulster Region was delighted that Fraser Homes continued their sponsorship of the Ulster Grand Prix Series and these classes, which ran from 90cm up to 1.35m, were the first prizes to be presented. These were followed by prizes for winners in the SJI Ulster Region Young Horse Series, Sports Members and Amateurs classes, National Balmoral Championships, Balmoral Show (CSI2*), Cavan, various National awards, RDS Dublin Horse Show awards and championships, as well as international awards for those who represented the Ulster Region at the FEI World Breeding Championships at Lanaken and general FEI participation awards.
Special Recognition Awards were presented to some very deserving winners on the night, including Mrs Myrtle Peak; the Ulster Region Breeders’ Cup (SVS Sport Horses Perpetual Cup) went to Mr and Mrs David Prentice (for My Clementine); Rookie of the Year (Dermott Lennon Perpetual Trophy) went to Camryn Clarke; and, not to be outdone by his older brother, Junior Rookie of the Year (Ronan McLaughlin Equestrian Perpetual Cup) went to Jamie Clarke, while Mickey McCann won the Ulster Region Owner Recognition Award and took home the Castle Irvine Perpetual Cup.
The very well-deserved Outstanding Achievement Award, in recognition of her exceptional results during 2025, was presented to Niamh McEvoy and was collected on the night by her father, Richard.
Every year, there are a few very deserving award winners that aren’t revealed until the night. This year, the Groom of the Year was presented to Rebecca McLaughlin, the Ulster Region Horse Show of the Year was named as Portmore’s Autumn Championships and the Ulster Region Venue of the Year went to Castle Irvine, Necarne.

FEI Junior Awards were presented to Arielle Allen, Robert Russell, Ben Walsh, Mischa Lennon and Zoe Keys at the Ulster Region SJI Horse Awards for 2025 \ Kyra Griffin
Fantastic selection
The Ulster Region Events Committee had once again done themselves proud, by gathering a fantastic selection of 17 lots to be auctioned on the night. These ranged from vouchers for SJI membership to a National Balmoral Championship VIP package, from hotel vouchers to various pieces of tack, while arguably the two most novel lots were a social media and content package from SJA Marketing and an A3 custom watercolour portrait by Ava Stubbs - both of which raised significant funds for the Ulster Region. A special mention must be made of the highest-priced auction lot of the night, a package for two stables and hook-up at the September Cavan Indoor Championships plus a £100 store voucher, kindly donated by Cavan Equestrian Centre and Cladem Equi Store.
Auctioneer and MC on the night, Andrew Thompson, along with his helpers around the room, did a great job in spotting the bidders and raising as much as possible for Ulster Region show jumping.
The auction was followed by a very successful and well-organised raffle, which had a fabulous array of prizes up for grabs! Everything from a fluffy headcollar to a pressure washer found their way to new homes on the night.
A disco followed and, while dancers were a bit shy to start with, the dancefloor was soon filled with folk of all ages, who had some rather impressive moves.
Sincere thanks are extended to Corick House staff and to all those who donated auction lots and raffle prizes.
Events chair Aldyth Roulston said afterwards: “I would like to thank everyone who supported the Ulster Region Horse Awards, including those who attended on the night, everyone who donated very generously with raffle and auction items, and Corick House Hotel and Spa for their amazing food and hospitality.
“A very special mention needs to go to Andrew Thompson, our Auctioneer and MC on the night, who did a fantastic job and, of course, my Events Team, who worked tirelessly on the run up to the awards and on the night. I really couldn’t do it without them. Of course, I can’t forget ‘The Disco King’, Miceal, who kept everyone dancing until the wee small hours!”
Ulster Region SJI looks forward to an equally successful 2026 and to gathering together to present more awards again next year.
