THERE was a quick turnaround at Millstreet, as the Five-Star Youngster Tour ended and the Pony and Young Rider Grand Prix Show began and ran over four days.

On Saturday and Sunday, Millstreet was buzzing, as the finals took centre stage in three arenas, following two days of qualifiers. In arena one, 63 went to post in the 148cm 90cm final and it was Josh Fitzgerald and the five-year-old GBH Pocahontas who took the win with a clear in 25.48. His closest rival was Erin Cullinan and Copper Bay Lady, with a clear in 25.79. Little stood between the next placing, as Amy Kent and Keatingstown Daisy Doll took third with a clear in 25.82.

On Sunday, Miley Rouke emerged as the winner in the 148cm 1m Final with Seapatrick Quality, with a clear in 27.64. Taking the runner-up spot was Rebecca Lawlor and Grantstown Dazzle, clear in 30.37, while in third was Cara Foley and Summerdale Stride of Pride, clear in 30.66.

Taking the victory in the 138cm 80cm final was Nicole Hassett and Carnhill Blaze, with a clear in 27.79. Runner-up with a clear in 31.04 was Caitlin Goff and Le Prince De Be’Lays in 31.04, while in third was Emily Adams and Martin’s Heather, with nothing to add in 31.55.

Ulster’s Caitie McEvoy and Kenza GA took the 138cm 90cm final with a clear in 24.75. A clear from Ashley Cannon and Lady Gillian in 25.38 secured them second place, ahead of Mia O’Donnell and Kinlough Lad, in 25.46.

Taking the win in the 138cm 1m final was Lucy Kent and Currabawn Prada, when they kept all the poles in place in 30.47. Miley Rouke and Two Socks Id took the runner-up place when all the fences remained intact in 30.60. Third place belonged to Jack Derwin and Candy Suprise, when clear in 32.43.

Taking the 128cm 90cm final was Ulster’s Harry Kelly and Ashwey El Britaniko, when they put in a fault-free round in 22.85. It was a close class, with Jack Dunphy coming home with nothing to add with Kilcreene Heather in 23.83. Ted Dooley took third with Skrædderdals Madonna, when clear in 24.51.

Jack Derwin took the 148cm 1.10m honours, when he delivered a clear with Rincoola Babog, in 31.03. A clear in 32.92 secured Zara Sharkey and Special Captain the runner-up spot, while in third was Lily Cahill and Dunard Cavalexa, clear in 33.06.

Young Riders

Winner of the 1.30m Young Rider Grand Prix and taking the lion’s share of the €2,000 was Kate Lynch and CCL Candy Balou with a double clear in 28.75. Less than a second behind was Christian Kennedy and Lagans OBOS Quality, clear in 29.56, while in third was Jack Geaney and Next Star, clear in 30.24.

Kildare’s Lucy McCarthy and Maggiemae C took the win in the 1.20m Young Rider final, when she delivered a double clear in 41.55. She was chased home by Ella Duignan and Aboy Duggie, clear in 42.11, ahead of Joe Codd and Danny Digro, clear in 43.05.

Munster’s Kristin O’Sullivan and Cushlas Kinnagin emerged victorious in the 1.10m Young Rider final, when they were the fastest of six double clears in 35.86. Dylan Barrett came closest to catching the winner, coming home in 37.14 for second. Max Doyle and Kee Techno accounted for third, when stopping the clock in 37.57.

Winner of the 1m Young Rider final was Lucy Kent and Phillepina with a very fast clear in 33.86. Taking the runner-up spot was Alice Manoliu and Money Quid Queen, clear in 35.86, while in third was Sadhbh Mannix and Sir Hugo Bon, clear in 36.12.
