ON Saturday, the main arena at Cavan Equestrian Centre saw 121 combinations battle it out in the 1.20m Senior, Young Rider Gain Alltech Autumn League Series Table A Speed class, held during the four-day October Autumn Young Rider and Grand Prix Show.
It was another good start for Cathal Daniels as he took another win with CSF Andrew when clear in 60.62. John Mulligan was less than half a second behind with Kathleens Candy Clover, with a clear in 61.06. Emily Moloney’s clear with the Keonan Stables-owned Clovalent in 62.68 saw her take third place. Sofia Zara returned to take fifth with Chandler De Nyze Z (63.80), while Denise Hopkins and Kannizer rounded off the top six in 63.90.
Happy hunting ground
Cavan was certainly proving to be a happy hunting ground for Cathal Daniels when he took both the win and second place in the 1.35m Senior, Young Rider and Junior Lynott Jewellery Grand Prix Table A Speed class. Riding the Sandra Duffy/ Ireland Horse Sport and Leisure Ltd-owned Magnifique, he lodged a clear in 56.81. Going early in the class, Denise Hopkins set the bar high with her own Mdsandyhill Princess Mia, but her time of 58.50 would later see her take third. Stephen Gibbons was fractions behind with Cassius Z, coming home in 58.68 for eventual fourth, ahead of junior rider Cian McMunn and Lisboy Emerald, clear in 59.12. John Mulligan and Kathleens Candy Clover took sixth, with a clear in 61.48.
McEntee victory
Leading the victory lap in the day’s MyBio 1.30m class was John McEntee, who was riding the Maurice Devlin-owned HHS Verona, with a clear in 32.12. Frank Curran was his closest rival with Safety Vt Hazelarenhoekje (8yo), coming home with nothing to add in 33.42.
