WINNER of the Connaught League 128cm Under 10s class at Headford Show was Cian Murtagh, when he was the fastest of the four-faulters aboard Little Miss Lightning. The Leonard sisters once again went head to head, with Saoirse taking second on Kyneton Snipe and Joscelyn taking third with Cefngelli Sherry.

Taking the win in the 128cm 90cm Connaught league was Leinster’s Jack Derwin, when he delivered a clear with Ginger Rodgers in 31.05. He was chased home by Sophie Hawkshaw and Ice Ty De Noone, with a clear in 36.49, ahead of Elaine Briscoe and The Glimmer Man in 38.93. Fourth place belonged to Lily Dunne and Parcglas Golden Venture, clear in 38.97, while in fifth was Lilli Cash and Standmorslow Shane, clear in 39.75. Ben Hawkins and the five-year-old Glenford Tammy completed the top six, with a clear in 42.16.

Jack Derwin took another win on the day, as he delivered a foot-perfect performance with the eight-year-old Candy Surprise, in a time of 24.55 in the 138cm 1m class. Amber Tobin also kept the poles in place with Harry Finn in 32.78 to take second. Last of the double clears was Niamh Delaney and Kisheen in 33.18 for third.

Priya Mai Cosgrave and the seven-year-old Toulouse put in a very fast round, stopping the clock in 30.36, but with one on the ground, they had to settle for fourth place. Niamh Delaney also had one on the ground with Rhos Enterprise, which put them in fifth place. Fastest of the four-faulters in the first round and taking sixth was Sarah Egan and Rebel Gealach.

Leading the victory lap in the 148cm 1.10m class was Ronan Gilvarry and Dexter Leam Prancer, when they kept all the poles in place in 32.43. Almost two seconds slower, was James Cleary and Abbi Bw with a clear in 34.09. Last of the double clears was Joshua Broderick and Greenfield Star in 37.02 for third.

Ella Cash and Lightning took fourth when they had a pole on the ground in 45.48. Ronan Gilvarry also took fifth place with Romaround, when they finished on eight faults in 42.01. Luke Sweeney and the six-year-old, Sparkling Boomerang’s Zehavi, took sixth when they were the fastest of the four-faulters in the first round.
