IT was a busy few days for Barnadown Equestrian, which hosted its four-day Grand Prix show last weekend. As expected, the Wexford venue was filled to capacity, with strong entries across every class.
On Friday, the Kenneth Davis Tree Services-sponsored two-phase 1.20m class saw 93 go to post. Taking the win was Enda Ivanoff with his eight-year-old, Nubalia DHF, with a clear in 39.55. Following closely behind was Patrick Whelan and Chilena PS, with a clear in 41.31. A clear from Darragh Ryan on Elaine O’Sullivan’s six-year-old, Piaggio Egorite took third, in 43.51, while in fourth was junior rider, Olivia Kinsella and The Gift, clear in 43.83. Abigail Boland and Gorsevally Camante took fifth with a clear in 44.89, ahead of Jemma Kirk and Diamantino Z in sixth, with a clear in 44.99.
1.30m
The James Tomkins Garage 1.30m class saw 44 go to post and Enda Ivanoff claimed another win, when he partnered his own Nubalia DHF to a clear in 43.57. Helen Gould and Khaleeshi came closest to catching the winner, when she lodged a clear in 45.84. Darragh Ryan took the next two places, placing third with the Elaine Glasheen-owned Ballygerald Blue Belle, clear in 47.38 and fourth with Gillian Walsh’s Currency, with a clear in 48.20. Ryan also took sixth with his own Flora Denfer, when he lodged another clear in 52.20. Lt Erin Crawford and the eight-year-old Glenaboy River, divided Ryan’s placings, crossing the line, clear in 49.80 for fifth place.
Win for Lee
Taking the win in the 1.35m Karlswood Stables LST class was Lt Raphael Lee and Derrycush, when they were fastest of 33 double clears in a time of 29.06 in the two-phase contest. Seamus Hennessy and King Louis Ae, slotted into the runner-up spot when they crossed the line in 31.59. Third place belonged to Shane O’Reilly and Lancer Luck, when they clocked 32.22, while in fourth was Shane Dalton and ESI Alexander in a time of 33.63. Accounting for fifth place was Paddy O’Donnell and the Alberta Capital Limited Conway-owned Castleconnell Candy Man, when they stopped the clock in 34.35. Rounding off the top six was Harry Wood and BP Goodfellas, in a time of 34.38.
Strong start
A familiar face in the line-ups in the Leinster Tour, amateur rider Lisa Doyle (AA) got her campaign off to a strong start as she took the opening leg of the 1.20m Karlswood Stables LST. Riding her home-bred Ballinaguilkey Dignified, she delivered a double clear in 37.82. Conor McMahon and Olga Doyle’s five-year-old Carrickview Candy took the runner-up place when they kept everything in place in a time of 41.67. Jemma Kirk and her own Diamantino took third, when they delivered a clear in 41.88, ahead of junior rider Phillippa Halliwell and Cosima in 44.33. Reece St John took fifth with Castlelawn Diamond Junior, when clear in 44.37, while in sixth was Joei Rettenmyer and Hollypark Philux, clear in 44.83.
Dignified win
The 1.10m Karlswood Stables LST division saw 103 combinations battle it out and it was certainly Lisa Doyle’s day as she claimed another win with Ballinaguilkey Dignified, when clear in 27.65. Fellow amateur rider Vicky Curran (AA) and RNH Coco Chanel took the runner-up spot with a clear in 27.68. Gemma Drennan (AA) and Cool Finesse accounted for third, when clear in 28.09, while in fourth was Shane Moloney and Miss Communicate, when they put in a foot-perfect round in 28.49. A past winner in this league, junior rider Brona Keane got off to a great start, as she took fifth with Krafty Krackers in 29.42. Rounding off the top six was amateur rider, Hannah McNiven and Hey You, clear in 29.86.
Winner of the 1.20m Mervue Equine Summer Series was Shane Kenny and Romeo Vd Bisschop, when they posted a clear in 64.06. A clear from Tholm Keane and The Rookie in 65.64 saw him take second, while in third was Caroline Ryan (AA), who was clear in 67.29. Fellow amateur rider Lorraine Younge (AA) and Adieu accounted for fourth place, clear in 69.44, while in fifth was young rider Layla Coyle and Cluain Mor Celtic, clear in 70.96. Rounding off the top six was junior rider Sarah Curry and Kahnemans M2S with a clear in 72.39.
