SUNDAY afternoon’s six and seven-year-old 1.30m final at Cavan, sponsored by NK Fencing, attracted 33 starters.

Of the 33, some 18 managed a clear first round to progress to the jump-off. An even dozen of the 18 left all the poles in place through the second round.

Quickest of the clears was Munster’s Jack Kent riding Castlefield Breeding Farm’s Belgian-bred six-year-old Niagara De L’Epinette (Jobolensky Sitte x Ugano Sitte) - they crossed the finish in 32.62 for the win.

Junior Kian Dore claimed second place when he guided his family’s Belgian-bred stallion Tyfoon Donkhoeve (Cazan Van Het Schaeck Z x Jamal Vd Heffinck) to a double clear in 33.20.

Third place went to Conor McMahon aboard Kennedy Brothers Sporthorses’ home-bred gelding Kbs Golden V (Vivant Van De Heffinck x Golden Blanket) in 33.33.

Brendan Murphy rode Martina McCrory’s home-bred Oke Dixieland Rock (Elvis Ter Putte x Cobra) into fourth place in 33.70.

Fifth went to junior Lauren Adams riding Dale Adams’ Ballywalter Stables-bred mare Coconut Bw (Cardento x Toulon) in 34.25. Daryl Walker rode William Kennedy’s home-bred Kec Klassique (Obos Quality 004 x Aldatus Z) into sixth in 34.51.
