TOM Wachman and Coolmore Showjumping’s mare I’m Here made their presence felt in the 1.40m Premier Performance National Grand Prix in Tattersalls on Saturday when they saw off stiff competition from a field of 42 starters to take the win.

“I’m delighted with the win. The mare is super competitive; she was second in Balmoral last week. The first round was tough, big enough and the time was quite tight as well; I think that was why there were so few clear.

“The two before me had one down so my plan was to jump clear a little bit quicker than Nicola (Fitzgibbon) but when I had the fence down, I had to speed it up to make sure and I was only just faster so I’m delighted.

“I have her (I’m Here) for a while now and she’s brilliant. She’s won a few ranking classes and is really competitive at that level.

"She’s a superstar and great to have in the string.”

Wachman has been named on the Irish squad for the Aga Khan at the Dublin Horse Show next week. “I’ll take this week off to get ready for Dublin. It’s my favourite show of the year, so hopefully we will go there ready to rock.

“This is a great show here in Tattersalls; really professionally run. It’s lovely to have it on our doorstep. It’s great to have classes of such a high standard like the National Grand Prix and the Premier Series for the riders based at home, so that when we go abroad we are up to scratch.”

Just three combinations returned a clear first round to proceed to the jump-off in the €5,000 class sponsored by Sam Dennigan and Sons.

Wachman’s jump-off round of four faults in 45.69 was enough to earn him first place. Nicola Fitzgibbon riding Langara Ventures’ eight-year-old mare Gracefield Apollo (Luidam x Coriall), bred by Barry McCann, took the runner-up spot in 45.90.

Third went to Aoife McCabe and her own mare Heritage Enigma (Eldorado Van De Zeshoek x Canturo), bred by Anne-Marie O’Gorman, in 48.32. Jonathan Smyth and Mr Kannan Ball were fourth as the fastest four-faulters in round one, while John McEntee riding Sandra Duffy’s CSF Andrew slotted into fifth. James Derwin and Killerisk Can Ya completed the line-up in sixth place.
