DARRAGH Ryan and Ballygerald Blue Belle, took the win in Thursday’s 1.30m class at Cavan Equestrian Centre’s June Five-Day Summer Horse Show, when they were fastest of the 14 double clears in 32.35 seconds. Less that a second behind was Lt Michaeli Byrne and the seven-year-old LVS Galtee, in a time of 32.91.

Mackenzie Healy and Contemporary Rock also stayed within the 33-second mark, coming home in 32.92 for third. It was a good day for the Army Equitation school, with Lt Erin Crawford and Glenaboy River taking fourth, coming home in 35.28, ahead of Lt Raphael Lee and Kilrue, who clocked 36.55. Darragh Ryan returned to take sixth place with Flora Denfer, stopping the clock in 36.55.

In the proceeding 1.35m class, Sven Hadley took first and second place in the €1,000 contest. Riding the Hibernia Horses-owned Elka De La Pomme, he delivered a clear in 35.06. He also filled the runner-up spot, when finishing less than a second behind with Tom McGurk’s Kannan Contessa, clear in 35.44.

Taking third was Louis Mellier and Carrick Quidams Flake, clear in 37.35, ahead of Hallie Crowe and Bouvier Belle, clear in 37.40. Fifth place belonged to Shane Treanor and SJ Oblensky, clear in 37.49. Completing the top six was John Mulligan and Lough Scur Quality Lady, clear in 38.54.

On Friday, leading the victory lap in the 1.30m speed class, was Wesley Ryan aboard his own SVS Je Taime Castlefield, with a clear in 68.58 seconds. A clear from Annelies Loose and Folly Stuff in 70.53 saw them secure the runner-up spot.

Third place was filled by Sophie Richards aboard Maurice Cousins’ seven-year-old, Kincullia Draco, when clear in 70.77.

Paul Murphy and Matallic Key Sr slotted into fourth, when clear in 72.19, ahead of junior rider Isobel Hourigan and Wrenwood Jesse James, clear in 73.37. Rounding off the top six was Jack Ryan and the seven-year-old Galwaybay Winningmood, who also kept everything in place in 74.27.

Winner’s enclosure

Sven Hadley returned to the winner’s enclosure, taking first and second places again in the 1.35m speed class. Hadley took the win aboard Elka De La Pomme, when he delivered a clear in 62.54. He then secured second with his own Maximum Numero Too HSH, when stopping the clock in 64.97.

Darragh Ryan also added to his tally, taking third with Ballygerald Blue Belle, clear in 65.13. A clear from Holly Lenahan and Khalinov in 65.16 secured them fourth, while in fifth was Emma O’Dwyer and Dougie Drea, clear in 67 seconds. Aoife Owens and Omard Connery accounted for sixth with a clear in 69.27.

On Sunday, 41 lined out for the €2,000 1.35m Hibernia Horses-sponsored class. Victory went to the Army Equitation School, as Lt Raphael Lee and Derrycush lodged the winning round of clear in 37.08. Jessica Burke was just under a second behind with Brian McConville’s eight-year-old BWE Windsor, in a time of 38.06 for second.

Sophie Richards was back in the line-up, taking third with her own and Maurice Cousins’ seven-year-old, Top Gun VD Bisschop, with a clear in 38.94. Paddy Reape kept all the poles in place with Louise Kelly’s Champagne Vh Bergerhof Z, in 39.67 for fourth, while in fifth was Lt Michaeli Byrne and the seven-year-old LVS Galtee, clear in 39.89. Completing the line-up with a clear in 40.28 was Paddy Reape and LCC Monte Karlo.

On Saturday, there were joint winners of the 1.30m class, when Annelies Loose on Folly Stuff and John Mulligan on Kathleens Candy Clover were fastest of 34 clears, both stopping the clock in 32.39. Victoria Clarke and Cherry Candy Girl took third, in a time of 33.19, while in fourth was Wesley Ryan and Tiger Balou, clear in 33.70. Slotting into fifth was Madeline Allen and Daroento VDL, in a time of 34.20, ahead of Wesley Ryan and SVS Je Taime Castlefield, in a time of 34.60.
