SPEED merchant Sven Hadley took the win and fourth place in the 1.25m speed class on Saturday. Riding the seven-year-old Maximum Numero Too Hsh, he was the fastest of 14 clears in 44.88. He delivered another clear with Uidam in 46.68, which saw him take home another share of the £1,000 which was sponsored by Cavan Equestrian Centre, McFadden Civils Ltd and RML Equestrian. Ben Walsh also featured in this line-up, taking second place with the seven-year-old Creamcorde Hdh in a time of 45.26. Jonathan Smyth added to his record, taking third with Mulvin Lights Out, when he crossed the line in 46.60, while in fifth was young rider Aidan O’Brien, who was riding the six-year-old Baskin Centerfold, in a time of 48.52. Sean Nangle completed the top six with Robert Lowry’s seven-year-old Cullion Mr Griffin, clocking 49.10.

Four-year-old championship

There were joint winners of the Willie Lapsley-sponsored four-year-old Championship with Shane McCloskey (Clonterm Flash Back) and Stacey Watling (Daravan) coming out on top. Clonterm Flash Back is owned by Liam McCloskey and was bred by Oliver Clancy. This mare is by Calvaro Van De Rechri and is out of Clonterm Free Flow. Daravan is owned by Stacey Watling and was bred by Dan Galavan. This mare is by Dignified Vant Zorgvliet and is out of the Touchdown-sired dam Lisdara Light Touch. Equal third was Shane Treanor (Premier Beauty) and Aiden O’Brien (Vaysall Van Het Weyenshof). Owned by Dominic Rice, this home-bred mare is by Contendro I and out of the Baloubet du Rouet-sired dam, Premier Royal Balou. Owned by Daniel Coyle, Vaysall Van Het Weyenshof is a Belgian Warmblood, bred by Niels Cuppens, he is by Cornet Obolensky and is out of Hera Van De Zielenberg.

Open Championship

On Sunday, Sven Hadley was back in the winnings, claiming the win and two other top five places in the 1.35m open championship. Riding Phenomene Bleu Vdm, he was fastest of six double clears in 30.38. Shane McCloskey and Mr Clover De Muze was less than a second behind, clocking 31.26. Third place was divided, as Hadley (Maximum Numero Too Hsh) and Lennon (Kinmar Right On Time) both clocked 32.73 seconds. Not content with first and third, Hadley added another clear round to his record, guiding Hsh Harper Du Seigneur to a faultless performance in 33.08 seconds to secure fifth place. Aidan O’Brien and Basking Centrefold were last of the double clears in 33.51 for sixth.

1.20m championship

Sven Hadley added to his haul in the 1.20m Championship when he partnered Hsh Harper Du Seigneur and Make It Easy HSH to clear rounds in 32.33, sharing the win between two mounts. Little separated the next placing, as Katie Scott and Dullerton Miss Dior came home clear in 32.45 for third. Scott also accounted for sixth with Loughehoe Rebel, when she was fastest of the four-faulters in 31.01. Slotting into fourth was Jonathan Smyth and Páirc Tír Conaill (six-year-old), clear in 34.41, ahead of Tyrone Flanagan and Daisy Diamond, clear in 34.98.

1.10m championship

Leading the victory lap in the 1.10m Championship (seven-year-old and under) was Megan McGettigan aboard Daniel Coyle’s Uptown Christov, clear in 30.83, while in the 1.10m (eight-year-old and over), it was amateur rider Nicole Lynch (AA) and My Velvet Lady, that took the win when clear in 28.40. Lynch also claimed victory in the 1m Championship (seven-year-old and over), clear in 25.40, while John Jordan and SJ True Grit, claimed victory in the six-year-old 1m Championship, clear in 26.26.
