THE TRM Showjumpers Club Spring Tour came to an exciting conclusion at CoilÓg last Sunday, with Sven Hadley and Maximum Numero Too HSH being crowned the 2026 Champion, while Max Foley took the final round.
Hadley and Maximum Numero Too HSH claimed the title on 46 points, with his closest rival Daisy McNamara on 32 points. Hadley had previously won this series in 2023 with Phenomene Bleu VDM and praised the tour for getting horses ready for the National Grand Prix circuit.
This combination proved very consistent in the league and, amongst their good results were runner-up spots in Emerald and Sceilig, fourth in Cavan and third in Jag. Bred by Eamonn McArdle, this gelding is by Aganix Du Seigneur and is out of the Numero Uno-sired dam, Couple of Diamonds.
Speaking after the presentation, Hadley said: “I’m delighted with the title - it’s always a good one to win. I’d like to thank TRM and the Showjumpers Club for their continued support of this fantastic league that kicks off the season. Tom Holden built an excellent course, perfectly suited to a final. I had originally planned to go abroad, but given the current circumstances, I decided to stay at home. After picking up a few wins early in the tour, I chose to stick with it and, thankfully, that decision paid off.
“I bought Maximum Numero Too HSH in the Elite sale in Cavan, and he has been very consistent as a young horse. We won the Connaught Grand Prix league last year and won as a six-year-old in Valkenswaard. The plan now is that he will have a few weeks off and hopefully we will go to Balmoral.”
Daisy McNamara failed to feature in the line-up after suffering a fall in the jump-off with Caspetito Z, but a strong performance from the young Munster rider saw her take home the young rider prize of the league. Owned by Martha McNamara and bred by Bart Vanlommel, the Zangersheide gelding is by Cassio Vh Sonnishof and out of the Hors La Loi II-sired dam, Zaire. Winner of the pro-am title was Jamie Garland and Zedleppin.
Daisy McNamara said: “It’s great I had a good few results and he has been jumping great. It’s a good warm-up for the RDS qualifiers. I have been riding him for three years and we have built up a good relationship.” She went on to thank the sponsors for supporting the series.
Final round
A strong field of 33 lined out to contest the final round, which had a prize pot of €3,000, sponsored by the venue.
Foley continued his strong run of form, securing two wins aboard Illusion De Hus before rounding things off with victory in the final. Going second in the jump-off, Foley guided the very nimble eight-year-old to clear in the 11-way jump-off in a time of 38.61.
The French-bred eight-year-old mare is by Baloubet Du Rouet and out of the Ugobak Des Baleines-sired dam, Duras De Hus. Her owners bought her as a five-year-old from France. Under the command of Foley last year, the pairing won the 1.35m North Star Classic at the Breeders’ Classic and before this finished second in the 1.10m/1.15m in the qualifier in the Dublin Horse Show and second in the Championship. In the Spring Tour, they took wins in Warrington and Barnadown.
Delighted with the win, Foley said: “It was great to put another win on the board. This mare is a pleasure to ride and she has amazing scope. I would like to thank the McOwan family and especially Robyn McOwan, who keeps the mare fit and happy during the week. The mare stepped up to 1.40m with ease and hopefully the next stop is Balmoral.
Trust
“Regarding the course,” he added, “I was second to go against the clock, and I knew there were fast combinations to follow. The mare is quick and brave, and I knew that I could trust her.”
Francis Connors was just over a second behind with nothing to add aboard Carrigshawn Vendi Royal in a time of 39.65 for second. Carrigshawn Vendi Royal is owned by Francis, Jenny and Kate Connors. The 11-year-old mare was bred by John Warner and is by Dondoctro Ryal K and is out of Carrigshawn Vendi. The mare was purchased by her current owners as a six-year- old and she has progressed through the ranks with wins at Grand Prix Level. In this year’s series, the combination won the opening round at Jag Equestrian.
Jack Geaney and the eight-year-old Next Star also left the poles in place, albeit in a slower time of 41.42 for third place. Owned by Seamus Madden, this gelding is by Emir R and out of the Cantos-sired dam Zita.
Sven Hadley went into the final knowing he had won the title, but he still put his best foot forward and guided Maximum Numero Too HSH to a clear in 41.66 for eventual fourth.
Liam O’Meara accounted for fifth place with Big Dan Du Rouet, when they were last of the double clears in 42.84. Owned by O’Meara’s wife Helen and bred by Michael Ryan, this 11-year-old stallion is by Querlybet Hero and is out of the Harlequin Du Carel-sired dam, Glenaguile Rose.
Coen Williams put in a very fast round with Dominante Z, clocking 39.15, but a pole on the ground meant he had to settle for sixth place on this occasion. This was the first outing for this pairing on home soil in 2026, as the pairing were competing in Lier at 1.45m level.
