WINNER of the seven-year-old DAFM Studbook Show jumping Series class, hosted by Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre in Co Galway, was Damien Griffin riding Ardragh DRC Drifter, when he lodged a double clear in 36.99 seconds. This stallion was bred by Griffin’s friend Oliver Ward and was bought by his friend Willie Cusack. He is by Ardragh Me O Moy and is out of the Kannan-sired dam, CSF Pippa. This line has proved very successful, with Ward selling offspring to Darragh Kenny.

Speaking after the win, owner Willie Cusack said: “I have been working with Damien for 20 years and I always wanted a nice horse to go to the shows with and get a bit of a buzz. I saw the horse as a three-year-old and thought he was very nice, but at the time I wasn’t interested in buying something. When the horse was five years old, Oliver had the chance to sell him to America, and it was then that I bought him. Since we bought him, I have had nothing but fun and I know we will continue to have fun days. No matter where he jumps, I will be there to see him.”

A field of 14 lined out and, from those, 10 delivered first-round clears, five of whom kept the poles in place in the second round.

Stephen Gibbons was back in the line-up, this time taking second place with the Monroe Stables-owned and bred LML Capaldi with a clear in 37.07. This gelding is by Glasgow Vant Merelsnest and is out of the Conquistador-sired dam, Isa Dora.

Third place belonged to Paul Lynch and Cashless, coming home in 37.73. Owned and bred by Alan Wheeler, this mare is by Ard VDL Douglas and is out of the VDL Arkansas-sired dam, Anabee Arkansas. This combination recently finished third in the 1.35m Connaught league at Corrandulla Show.

Sven Hadley also returned to the line-up, claiming fourth place with the Hibernia Horses-owned Toleen, crossing the line in 39.25. This Belgian Warmblood is by Cornet Obolensky and is out of Oleen.

A clear from Wesley Ryan and Orvil Grandia in 44.62 saw them take fifth. Owned by Annelies Loose, this grey stallion is by Highway M Tn and is out of the Cardento-sired dam Egetti.

Richard Kerins put in a fast round with Orca, clocking 37.90, but four faults saw them finish in sixth place. This mare is by I’m Special De Muze and is out of the Voltaire-sired dam, Wulfin.
