IN the five-year-old final on Friday, 29 contested the round and 17 double clears were delivered to share the €2,500 prize fund. In the six-year-old section, 25 went to post and the prize fund was divided amongst the 14 double clears.
In the seven-year-old decider, 17 battled it out and taking the win was Max Foley aboard Marion Hughes’ HHS Lexington, when they were the fastest of 10 double clears. This is the second win of the series for this combination, having claimed the honours in Tipperary. Owned and bred by Marion Hughes, the gelding is by Luidam and is out of the Cavalier Royale-sired dam Chantilly Lace
It was a repeat of the opening round at Tipperary, as Coen Williams and Parc Violeta came closest to catching the leader, posting a clear in 33.06 to place second to Foley for the second time in this series. Bred by Paula Williams, the mare is by Kannan and out of the Emilion-sired dam Ulanda D.
Little stood between them and the next placing as Linda Moloney and Calise Talent came home in 33.69 for third, repeating their result from the round at The Meadows. This mare is by Casall and out of the Kannan-sired dam, On Verra Vant Merelsnest.
Placed fifth in the opening round in Tipperary, Gemma Phelan and Sumas Lumen were back in the line-up, accounting for fourth when they posted 34.49. Owned and bred by Suma Stud, the mare is by Ard VDL Douglas and out of the Master Imp-sired dam, Cill Mhuire Imp.
Liam O’Meara was back in the line-up, taking fifth with M and P Coffey’s Oldtown Presley, clear in 35.90. Bred by his owners, the gelding is by Balou De Rouet and out of the Cruising-sired dam, Oldtown Sally K.
Completing the top six was Paul Lynch and Cashless, in a time of 35.99. Owned and bred by Alan Wheeler, this mare, is well related by Ard VDL Douglas and out of the VDL Arkansas-sired dam, Anabee Arkansas.
