IT was a good day for Lt Raphael Lee, as alongside his National Grand Prix success, he also rode to victory in the Trinity-sponsored 1.35m Karlswood Leinster league including Young Rider class at Bannow and Rathangan Show. Riding Derrycush, Lee lodged the winning round of clear in 31.44 seconds.

Just over a second behind was Emma O’Dwyer riding Claire Penny’s KPCM Contessina, with a clear in 32.91 to claim the runner-up spot.

A clear from Oisin Aylward and Coppenagh Olympus in 38.58 saw them secure third. Paddy O’Donnell and the John Gallagher-owned eight-year-old, Little Bit Foxrock was fastest of the four-faulters in 32.82 for fourth.

A four-fault round in 33.70 for Francis Connors and Martello Chapella saw them take fifth place. Isabel Fitzpatrick and Premier Lily also had one on the ground in 34.50 for sixth.

The leading young rider and taking the Arctic Tack Stud-sponsored prize was Noah Murphy and MHS One Direction, on four faults in 38.04.

Another win

Amateur rider Laura Walshe (AA) put another win on the board in the 1.25m Karlswood League including Young Rider class, as she partnered her home-bred Ballinaguilkey Heritage to a clear in 34.45. She was chased home by young rider, Joanie Walsh and Bellelake Sunrise with a clear in 37.06 for second place. Shaunagh Thomson and Harlequin Duke took third with a clear in 39.95, ahead of Vincent Byrne and the six-year-old Ottocha Hero Z, clear in 49.94 for fourth.

Amateur rider Lorraine Younge (AA) and Belfieldflight took fifth, when fastest of the four-faulters in 34.74. Walshe’s sister, Lisa Doyle, (AA) and Ballinagulkey Dignified completed the top six, coming home on four faults in 37.43.

Young rider

Winner of the Neville Hotels-sponsored 1.10m Karlswood League including Young Rider class and taking the young rider prize was Dylan Barrett and China Man, when clear in 30.42. Laura Walshe was back in the ribbons, taking the runner-up spot with Ballinaguilkey Heritage, clear in 30.59.

She was again chased home by her sister, Lisa Doyle, and Ballinaguilkey Dignified, clear in 30.97 for third. Fellow amateur rider Marie Hartley (AA) and Nikita Van Het Heidenhof took fourth with a clear in 34.12, while in fifth was Joanie Walsh and Bellelake Sunrise, clear in 32.43.

Lorraine Younge also returned to the line-up, taking sixth with Little Miss Russel, clear in 32.51.
