THE Connaught Pony Leagues continued at Ballina Show last weekend, with some familiar faces clocking up points in the league standings. Taking the win in the 128cm 85cm Under 10s class was Cian Murtagh and Little Miss Lightning with a clear in 37.45 seconds. The Leonard sisters were out in force, this time taking second and third. Saoirse and the eight-year-old Kyneton Snipe secured second place when they were clear in 41.46, while Joscelyn placed third with Cefngelli Sherry, after having one down in 48.16.

Leading the victory lap in the 128cm 90cm class was Anna Howley and Glebe Gold, when fastest of four double clears in 36.08. Second was Charlie Geraghty and Smokey Astral, in 36.32, while in third was Elaine Briscoe and The Glimmer Man, in 37.74. Not content with third, Briscoe also took fourth with Strawberry Swirl II, when coming home in 37.98.

Taking the win in the 138cm 1m class was Sonny McGovern on Q-Star MLH, who came home with nothing to add in 30.98. Niamh Delaney and Rhos Enterprise came closest to catching the winner, coming home clear in 31.58. A clear from Ashley Cannon and the five-year-old Lady Gillian in 32.74 saw them take third, while in fourth was Lily Haverty and Barnaboy Smarty Pants, clear in 35.71.

Emer T Staunton and Shot Gun LHI took fifth with a clear in 38.78, while in sixth was Niamh Delaney and Kisheen, clear in 38.80.

Just one double clear was delivered in the 148cm 1.10m class and this came courtesy of Edward Walsh Jnr and the six-year-old Killery Midnight Shadow, in 37.34 to take the win. Jack Costello put in a very fast round of 32.37 with Lexi Taylor, but it came at a price with two on the ground for second. Joshua Broderick and Greenfield Star took third when they finished on eight faults in 33.76, ahead of Katie Staunton and Carrow Ted, also on eight faults, but in 38.35. Helen Walsh was fastest of the four-faulters in the first round with Parkroe Harvey to take fifth place, ahead of Amber Tobin and Rivers Edge Rocket in sixth.
