THE 1.10m Derravarra Championship at Mullingar on Monday saw 32 combinations go to post for the title. Following an exciting jump-off, it was junior rider Alice Manoliu and the seven-year-old Wrenwood Flying Tiger, who took the win with a clear in 32.15. Shane Treanor aboard the Malcolm Keys-owned six-year-old Killadeas Dan took the runner-up spot with a clear in 32.77.
Keen to make his mark in the national arenas, Sven Hadley and Guy Gano took third, with a clear in 35.43, ahead of Derek Shaw and VSM Dallance Cruise, clear in 37.64. Amateur rider Fiona Mullins and Coded Whisper slotted into fifth with a clear in 38.68, while in sixth was amateur rider, Olwyn Alexander (AA) and Faline, clear in 40.28.
Sven Hadley took the win in the 1.20m Championship, when he partnered the Hibernia Horses-owned Carthe 7 with a clear in 31.40. Junior rider Noah Murphy and MHS One Direction took the runner-up spot, when they left all the poles in place in 31.70. A clear from Catriona Fitzgerald and D Cullen Dominator took third with a clear in 31.94, ahead of Gracie Kelly and Hermies Vh Bergerhof Z, with a clear in 31.96. Lucy McCarthy and Maggiemae C, accounted for fifth, with a clear in 32.85, while in sixth was Sean Dooley and Indie Girl, with a clear in 33.01.

Ladies’ contest
Winner of the 1.10m Ladies’ Championship was Children on Horses rider Gracie Kelly and Hermies Vh Bergerhof Z, when they were fastest of six double clears in 36.25. She was chased home by amateur rider Lorraine Younge (AA) and Belfieldflight, who came home in 37.12 for second place, and also in third with her own Adieu Flight, in 37.57. Fourth place belonged to Danni Jennings and Super Star with a time of 38.63, while in fifth was amateur rider, Stephanie Forde (AA), clear in 39.92. Junior rider Olivia Moore and the eight-year-old Seskin Ridge accounted for sixth when they came home in 42.55.
The 1m Championship saw 30 combinations go to post and, from those, 11 delivered double clears. It was a fiercely-contested class, with the top six coming home within 35 seconds. Amateur riders were on form, claiming five of the top six placings. Taking the win was amateur rider, Patricia Woods and her own Crissaun Just Joey, with a clear in 30.61. Leinster young rider, Phoenix Scully and Heritage Vienna took the runner-up place when they clocked 31.25, ahead of Katy Nolan (A) and Im a Quality Clover in 31.74. Lorraine Macguinness (A) and Horseware Kinmar Night, followed closely behind, clocking 33.23 for fourth, while in fifth was Laura O’Connor (A) and DS Little Missy in 34.87. Rounding off the top six was Darielle O’Sullivan and One Kamula in a time of 34.96.
In the Amateur Championship, just two double clears were delivered; fastest of those and taking the win was Luke Barton (A) and Bright in a time of 37.58 seconds. Eimear Starr (A) took the runner-up spot, with a clear aboard her own Glenomra Heather Hill in 42.29 seconds.
RDS Puissance Qualifier
On Saturday, the Midlands Equine RDS Puissance Qualifier attracted a large crowd and three riders went on to clear 1.95m to share the win. Runner-up in Dublin last year, Waterford’s Paddy O’Donnell will be returning with Quality Command. Also taking their places will be Gracie Johnson on Cruze and Andrew Hodgins on Shanaclough Luichew.
