JUNIOR rider Lauren Adams won Friday’s feature class, the Connolly’s Red Mills/Munster Region 1.35m Grand Prix at Maryville in Co Cork.

Riding Gary Adams’ Caddie Z, a 10-year-old Belgian-bred mare by Cicero Z, the duo posted a winning time of 35.10 in the nine-way jump-off.

Tadhg Beecher and his family’s eight-year-old home-bred Loughnatousa Buckley (Chacoon Blue x Cornascriebe Cardiamond) took the runner-up spot, stopping the clock at 36.07. Adams also took third place with her second mount, Dale Adams’ Belgian mare Quina Dw. They crossed the finish line in 37.00.

Robyn Moran and the seven-year-old Fortside Omard Oklahoma (Presidential Ball x Maltstriker), bred by Shane O’Reilly, slotted into fourth place in 38.11, while Tholm Keane and Michael Murray’s German-bred Yes Man were fifth in 38.91.

Cushlas Fryday, owned by Vera Griffin and ridden by Robyn Moran, completed the line-up in sixth place as the fastest four-faulter.

DAFM Studbook series

GRC horses dominated in the seven-year-old DAFM Studbook Series in Maryville taking first and second places.

Owned and bred by Rory Costigan, GRC Casper (Sandokan 290 x Luidam) was ridden to the win by Gemma Phelan, when the pair stopped the clock at 33.55 in an eight-horse strong jump-off.

Phelan also earned the runner-up spot with the home-bred mare GRC Mercedes (Luidam x Chacco Blue) in 33.89.

Tony O’Donohue and Alan Robertson’s Glenfield Harrington (Clarimo x Untouchable 27) were third in 34.08, while Lucy O’Sullivan with her own Beechfield Stables Ltd’s CSF Tamara (Tyson x Cruising) took fourth.

Six-year-olds

Leah Stack won the six-year-old DAFM Studbook Series aboard GBBS Intl Ltd’s home-bred BP Hello Emerald (Emerald Van T Ruytershof x HHS BR Charlton), who came out on top in 38.49.

Second was Darryl Walker riding Claire Penny’s Kpcm Contessina (Cornet Obolensky x Emerald Van’t Ruytershof), bred by Glenmore Stud, in 39.41.

Charles O’Reilly Hyland and his own MHS Enable (Emerald x Mr Blue), bred by Michael Brennan, slotted into third, while Phelan and Beechfield Stables’ Rosco Alienne 2 (Tyson x Alvarez 17), bred by Joe Connaughton, were fourth.

Gemma Phelan also claimed the five-year-old win, this time with her own Mentolado (Cormint x Skippu), bred by Eamon McArdle.
