FOLLOWING on from their successful Elite Foal Auction, the team at Cavan are back in action next week, when they hold a two-day sale of young stock and Irish Draughts on September 24th and 25th.

Thursday’s catalogue ranges from foals to three-year-olds and features the Premier Foal section (Lots 40-64), where one of the standouts is Lot 50. A bay colt by Kafka VD Heffinck, the sale-topping sire at the aforementioned foal auction, he is out of a mare herself proven in international sport.

Other Lots of interest include two well-related colt foals consigned by Patrick Connolly, Lots 37 and 89, as well as Lot 26 - a filly foal by My Way from a dam line featuring both four-star event horses and an Olympic show jumper, this foal is a half-sibling to Ballsallagh Agapeic, one of the top lots at this sale last year.

Friday’s Irish Draught catalogue features everything from foals to broodmares and approved stallions. A standout among the latter is undoubtedly Seans Supremacy, who was awarded Class 1 status at this year’s stallion inspections and is by the legendary Moylough Supremacy.

Young stock (Thursday)

Lot 4 unnamed 2yo g m by Caspar 232 out of Crosskeys Lady (by Limmerick). Described as having beautiful movement, this filly is by the LGCT Grand Prix of Monaco-winning Caspar 232 (Emanuele Gaudiano) out of a mare who is a half-sister to Black Ice, Jerome Robine’s five-star eventing partner who has twice finished in the top 10 at senior European championships. Her yearling full-sister is also available as Lot 16.

Lot 26 Ballsallagh Mo Bhealach b f f by My Way out of Kinmar Beech Lady (by Beachball). This filly boasts top-level performers on both sides of her pedigree, being by the 1.60m stallion My Way and out of a mare who is a half-sister to both a four-star event horse in My Eastwood Brightside and an Olympic show jumper in Maxwin Kinmar Agalux.

Lot 32 Lachain Jet Set gr f f by Der Senaat III out of Lachain Jet (by Je T’Aime Flamenco). This foal is a half-sister to the international event horse Excel Star Montgomery (formerly Lachain Knight), currently competing in America under Hanna Hansen, while her dam line has also produced Lachain Lance (a winner at EI110) and Lachain Crux (1.45m).

Lot 37 CSF Nicky b c f by Emerald Van’T Ruytershof out of CSF Jazzy Lady (by Kannan). A half-brother to the Eoin MacMahon-ridden 1.50m show jumper CSF Ballsbridge, this foal is out of a full-sister to the international event horse Cooley Killaloe. The pedigree also features WCE Cruco (1.60m) and WCE Falco (1.50m).

Lot 39 Fuerty Kafka Clover gr c f by Kafka VD Heffinck out of Fuerty Viva Cruise (by Ars Vivendi). Kafka has proven to be a sought-after sire at recent sales, and this colt foal comes from a strong maternal line. The dam is a full-sister to the event horse Fuerty Cruise Brigade, who has competed up to CCI2* level, and is also related to several 1.30m show jumpers, including Fuerty Hero Brigade, who won at the Breeders’ Classic as a four-year-old.

Lot 72 unnamed b c f by Cocktail De Talma out of Greenacres Cavalier Luidam (by Cavalier Royale). Described as a big, scopey, athletic colt and a beautiful mover, his dam is a full-sister to the Damien Griffen-ridden Mullaghroy Fireheart (1.45m) and a half-sister to Isla Flight, second in the six-year-old final at this year’s Breeders’ Classic.

Lot 73 Oakport Django b c f by Wild Balou Bill out of Oakport Vivier (by Ars Vivendi). By a stallion who has jumped to 1.40m level, this colt is described as a lovely blood foal with great step and attitude. His dam line features the international event horses Fernhill Revelation (CCI3*) and Sportsfield Kingpin (CCI4*).

Lot 89 CSF Domino, b c f by Zirocco Blue out of CSF Dolores (by Ars Vivendi). This well-related colt foal is a half-sibling to several successful show jumpers, including the eight-year-old CSF Dano (1.35m) and the six-year-old CSF Seaview, who jumped in Lanaken under Alan O’Regan last year. His pedigree also features the CCI3* event horse CSF Dassett Decoy and the 1.60m show jumper Galipolli Ter Doorn.

Lot 119 JS Madison 3yo b m by Conticco out of Cloonagh Luxury (by Lux Z). Unbroken, this mare is described as being straight and correct in every way. By the popular sire Conticco, who is noted for passing on rideablity, she is a half-sister to the international show jumpers, Castle Lux Clover (1.40m) and Lunar Eclipse (1.40m).

Premier foal section (Thursday)

Lot 42 unnamed b f f by Orville VD Watermolen out of Jalinca Van Het Sonnishof (by Jacardi S). This filly is by the seven-year-old stallion Orville VD Watermolen, who has already earned victories up to 1.40m level internationally, and her pedigree also includes Cehjur Princess Quiny (1.55m) and Gringo (1.45m).

Lot 44 unnamed reg ch c f by Kafka VD Heffinck out of Uileann Davis (by Stowaway). Described as a good-looking foal who moves well, this colt is out of a thoroughbred mare with a pedigree that has also produced successful jumpers. He is by the sale-topping sire from the recent Cavan Elite Foal Auction, 1.60m performer Kafka VD Heffinck.

Lot 45 Urneypark Kalone b c f by Ermitage Kalone out of Deluciene (by Harley VDL). By a stallion competing at the top of the sport under Gilles Thomas (BEL), this colt’s dam line features several 1.60m horses, including Koodwill, Luchy and Intrigo RS.

Lot 46 unnamed b f f by Chacfly PS out of Crista (by Cabachon). This filly’s dam line has produced numerous blacktype performers, including the three 1.60m horses, Centadel, Miss Cashcall and Quilando.

Lot 50 Grangebeg b c f by Kafka VD Heffinck out of Helianthus H (by Quality Time TN). Another by the recent sale-topping sire Kafka VD Heffinck, who is also the sire of Derryglen Othello (1.60m), among other top-level horses, the dam of this foal has also earned several placings internationally at 1.40m level under Aidan Killeen.

Lot 52 Crosskeys reg b c f by Emerald out of FSS Riviera (by SIEC Livello). Consigned by a regular sale-topping vendor, this colt foal’s dam line includes the 1.60m performer FSS Outlaw, as well as FSS Drama Queen (1.40m) and FSS California (1.35m).

Lot 58 Corrigas Capacino reg b c f by Sligo Candy Boy out of LCC Candy (by Pacino). Described as a top-quality foal, this colt comes from a strong dam line, which includes Ka Ching (1.50m) and LCC Silver Fox (1.40m) and has two full-siblings already being produced for sport.

Lot 61 ARD Dunkirk reg buckskin c f by Pegase Van’T Ruytershof out of Ard Well Done (by Ard Golden Crisp). This eye-catching buckskin colt is described as being correct and beautiful with loads of quality. His sire’s progeny are already excelling in young horse championships, while dam sire Ard Golden Crisp also competed at Lanaken. The dam line also features numerous 1.45m performers.

Foals and young stock (Friday)

Lot 144 Knockraheen Ellis, reg gr c f by Eponastables Uibh Fhaili out of Knockraheen Bess (Fintan Himself). A quality colt foal with exceptional movement, Knockraheen Ellis won the Irish Draught colt foal class at Gorey Agricultural Show and qualified for the Ballinasloe Irish Draught colt foal championship. Dam Knockraheen Bess was successful in the show ring herself, having placed second in the mare class at the 2023 National Irish Draught show.

Lot 175 Gortfadda Heigh Ho Cross, reg gr 1yo f by Innisfree The Iron Cross out of Gortfadda Heigh Ho (by Innisfree The Holy Grail). This yearling’s dam has herself had a successful career in the show ring, and her full-sister Gortfadda Diamonds won her class at the 2024 Dublin Horse Show. Described as a genuine, straight-moving filly, she could be successful as a broodmare or show horse.

Lot 198 Drumtain Diamond 3yo bl m by Mountain Diamond out of Hi Ho Dubh Lady (by Welcome Diamond). This mare has been shown in-hand and placed second in a loose jumping competition at Kildysart Agricultural Show. She is described as an exceptional mover and quiet in every way, being used to being handled by children, and is lunging well.

Stallions (Friday)

Lot 185 Seans Supremacy, reg gr 4yo s by Moylough Supremacy out of Robeen Rose (by Clew Bay Bouncer). This stallion was awarded Class 1 status at the 2026 Horse Sport Ireland stallion selections, where the panel described him as showing sufficient technique and scope over fences. He went on to place third in the Irish Draught stallion class at the 2026 Dublin Horse Show, and is now lightly breaking and showing great manners under saddle.

Broodmares (Friday)

Lot 204 Cappa Lady Sylva, reg 5yo gr m by Cappa Aristocrat out of Cappa Diamond Glide (by Welcome Flagmount). This class 1 mare is in foal to the dual RDS champion Moylough Bouncer and has bred attractive colt foals to date. She has proven to be an easy mare to work with and was shown in-hand as a yearling, always in the ribbons.

Lot 206 Steal Crosstown, reg 10yo gr m by Crosstown Pride out of Kilmashogue Miracle (by Silver Glider). Described as having excellent conformation, beautiful movement and a gentle temperament, this mare has been scanned in foal to the Draught stallion WGS Irish Rajah, who himself has jumped to 1.20m level. This pairing will result in a 2027 foal with lineage going back to both Crosstown Dancer and Carrabawn View.
