Last year’s top lot: MBF Sporthorses and Higgins Sport Horses’ MBF Fortuna, four-year-old filly by Imnotafraid Fortuna (dam by Ars Vivendi) €38,000

LAUNCHING their 2026 sales year next Wednesday, the team at Goresbridge offers a bumper catalogue of around 500 lots. Running over an extended three days, the edition will offer the usual selection of ponies, performance stock and hunters, and will also feature an important dispersal sale of Dolmen Sport Horses on behalf of the estate of the late Dr Jack Murphy.

Selling towards the end of Friday, the latter catalogue opens with a selection of blacktype jumping-bred brood mares in foal to top sires, including Casallido, Pegase Van’t Ruytershof and Uri Cane. In addition, there are a few unbroken four-year-olds (by Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet and HHS Cornet), as well as a sizeable collection of two and three-year-olds and yearlings.

In the main catalogue, the older stock and pony divisions appear especially stout, with numerous lots carrying strong and current competition form. Hunters too are plentiful, while the closing sessions of three and four-year-olds also make for interesting reading.

Ponies

Lot 4 Gortglass Rosie, reg 9 yo b m 14.2hh by Buachaill Orga out of Sprite (I Love You Melody). She was placed fourth in the John Ledingham National IPC Championship last year and also filled fifth spot in the Intro-intermediate National IPC Eventing Championship.

Lot 11 Kilnamanagh Joe, reg 7 yo bl g 13.2hh (no recorded breeding). A real all-rounder from the intermediate height group, this fully-warranted pony has a great CV. He is the winner of events and show jumping, and has hunted in Co Wexford and Co Laois.

Lot 30 MS Golden Girl, reg 9 yo b m 12.2hh (no recorded breeding). One for the smallest of competitive riders, the grade A jumper Golden Girl is described as a top track pony and an ideal candidate for the RDS qualifiers. She is the winner of 212 SJI points, has been successful in the working hunter ranks (placed at the RDS) and has competed in all pony club activities, including the National Pony Championships.

Lot 106 Poynstown Josh, reg 6 yo gr g 16.1hh by Corrdino out of Lisduff Lady (Derrymore Duncan). Hunters

Lot 247 Coolcarty Blacksmith, reg 5 yo gr g 155cm (no recorded breeding). A sort very hard to find, Blacksmith is a proper cob with hunting and show jumping form. Measured with SJI for the showing season, he has followed the Carlow and Kilkenny hounds, proving to have a great brain for banks and drains, but enough blood to jump fly fences.

Lot 257 Robbie, 7 yo gr g 16.3hh by Beechmore Silver Crest out of Huntingfield Beauty (Huntingfield Rebel). A full Irish Draught, Robbie has hunted for three seasons with the Conna Harriers, West Waterford and United hunts. Brilliant over banks and ditches, he is thought ideal to make a huntsman’s horse.

Competition horses

Lot 189 Shanbo Siani, reg 5 yo ro m 17hh by Ardcolum Duke out of Shanbo Queen B (Master Imp). This is an interestingly-bred mare by a 5* grade A Irish Draught jumping stallion out of a four-star event mare by Master Imp. Lot 223 Cappuccino, reg 5 yo b m 16.2hh by Vivant Van de Heffinck out of Rue Moliere (Womanizer). Fully warranted, this mare qualified for the loose performance jumping at the RDS Dublin in 2024. Now under saddle, she has attained 8 SJI points.

Lot 233 Kippagh Diamond Lance, reg 11 yo gr g 16.3hh by Lancelot out of Kippagh Sunrise (Glidawn Diamond). One of the stand outs, this grade A gelding has clocked up 400 SJI points to date. The winner of the National GP Qualifier at the Millstreet International, and having gained numerous wins and placings at the top shows on the grand prix circuit, he is an extremely competitive horse for young rider/amateur. He has been produced by a young girl to 1.40m level, and is sadly for sale due to college commitments.

Lot 244 Woodie, reg 5 yo b g 16.1hh by El Baron 111 out of Ard Reason (Ard Reason To Be). Three-year-olds

Lot 442 Amigo Van Het Netehof, reg 3 yo b c by Mosito Van Het Hellehof out of Mystic Van’t Hoogeinde (Echo Van’t Spieveld). His dam was the world six-year-old champion in Lanaken, who has already produced the 1.40m performers Dourga Hero Z and Quinquina Van’t Hoogeinde. The second dam competed to 1.55m and has produced numerous top-level stock, including Jivaro Imperio Egicio (1.60m).
