THE Warrington Riding Club Summer Show is always a highlight of the spring season in the AIRC South East region and this year (Sunday, May 10th) was no different, offering both dressage and show jumping disciplines, as well as team competitions to add extra excitement.

Dressage kicked off the day. The RCP1 graded class was first up the centre line, judged by Sarah Jane Doyle. John O’Dwyer from Thomastown and District on My Oscar Wild won the class, just ahead of Patrick Deegan from Ballycanew on Last Masterpiece.

The RCP1 open class was next, with Roisin Neville from Thomastown and District on Garnagree Peig taking the spoils.

The RCP2 Graded class was the largest class of the day and saw spring series regular, Isobelle Gould from Barrow Valley on Foxy Furisto claiming her first red rosette of the day. Aoife Murphy on Sailors Hill from Horetown placed second, ahead of Roisin Sutton of Carne on Broomhill Bailey in third. Gould also won the RCP2 open, with Aisling Brett of Thomastown and District on Annaveigh Mac in second and Roisin Sutton once again in third.

The RCP3 graded class was next, with series regular, Faith Jackson on Kilquinn Pride from Tinahely, adding another red rosette to her collection, ahead of Harry Doran of Barrow Valley on Jackson in second, with fellow clubman Keith Smyth on Springsteen taking third position.

Faith Jackson’s second red rosette came in the RCP3 open class, with Keith Smyth improving on his previous result in second place and Melanie Hammel of Carne on Taylors Dandy coming in third.

Hammel on Taylor Dandy added a red rosette to their spoils in the RCN class, ahead of Caoilfhionn Stoiri of Barrow Valley on her two mounts, Topper and Kildromin Mustaf, in second and third. The RCE Graded class was won by Claire Farrell of Thomastown and District on Renneti.

The veteran dressage class was won by Vicky Clooney of Carne on Gentle Bouncer, with John O’Dwyer taking his second rosette of the day.

The last individual dressage class of the day was the young horse class, which was won by Sarah Long of Thomastown and District on Higher Power.

The team dressage followed the individual classes, with three teams battling it out. The Barrow Valley team of Isobelle Gould, Harry Doran, Caoilfhionn Stoiri and Valerie Crean, finished ahead of the mixed Carne/Tinahely/Horetown team of Roisin Sutton, Aoife Murphy and Faith Jackson. The Warrington team of Francoise Foley-Fisher, Mary Louise Nolan, John Kearney and June McGrath rounded off the team places.
