THE Tara Hill Club recorded some excellent results at this year’s Festival, one of its wins coming in Sunday morning’s Frank Mangan memorial championship through Jemma King and Drumbo Jessie.
King and her 16-year-old bay mare first won their section of the Primary showing class and then stood Primary champions, ahead of the second in their class, Mullingar’s Donna Hynes riding her 12-year-old Connemara gelding Slieve Rushen Samson, a grey son of Dromore Peter.
Also through to the section championship as winners were Killcarrick’s Megan O’Loughlin with her Irish Sport Horse gelding Scrapmans Gem, an 11-year-old Scrapman grey on whom she won the Uniblock introduction to showing class; Thornton’s Alison Curtis on her 19-year-old skewbald gelding Haribo, winners of Section A of the Primary class; and Killcarrick’s Louise Byrne with her winner of the TopSpec novice class, Slyvester 2, a seven-year-old bay gelding who was to stand reserve.
King and Drumbo Jessie finished second in their RCP1 class in the Aloga Equestrian equitation showing section to Castle Hill’s Natalie Haake riding the six-year-old ISH mare Dunluce Ruibin (Grandpas Diamond - Kiltar Dawn, by Aldatus Z). Also representing Castle Hill, Rebecca Matthews won the RCP3 class with her 10-year-old skewbald mare Benvarden Dakota, while Westport’s Isobel Lee won the RCP2 with the elsewhere mentioned Flin.
