THE Warrington Riding Club Summer Show is always a highlight of the spring season in the AIRC South east region and this year was no different. Competitors are able to compete in both dressage and show jumping disciplines with also team competitions to add an extra layer of excitement.

The dressage (report next week) was first before attention turned to the show jumping arena. Competitors began at 60cm newcomer class with two double clear rounds from Yvonne Carroll on Rua Star from Carne and Linda Byrne from Warrington on Gigalo B. Stephen Tobin from Nuenna Farm completed the course on Luna on their first day out.

The RC70 graded class was next to tackle the course. It was Josephine Britton on Mickey Joe for the home club Warrington taking the red rosette ahead of Patrick Deegan of Ballycanew on last Masterpiece picking up his second blue rosette of the day.

Francoise Foley Fisher on Ragtime Lady from Warrington was the winner in the RC70 class ahead of her fellow club member Marie Louise Nolan on June Flight with series regular Tony Behan from Coole Lane Riding club on Cappard Brownie taking third.

Francoise Foley Fisher tried to repeat her previous result in the RC80 graded but was just pipped at the post by her own club mate June McGrath on Dromore Chinnok. Sophie Byrne also from Warrington on Penny finished off the top three.

The largest class of the day was the RC80 open class. It was Maria Whelan from Mill Road on Jackson coming out on top ahead of Claire Farrell on Copper Coast Peak of Thonastown and District and Christine Bergin of Lisduff on Cowpark Bently in third.

The RC90 graded class was next and it was the Lisduff duo that would come out on top with Fergus Ryan on Slibh Bloom Miss Molly and Christine Bergin adding to her earlier result. Thomastown and District were back in the winnings with Gillian Coody on Lisbrien Boy completing the line up.

Fergus Ryan once again was in the pole position in the RC90 open class, this time ahead of Lisa Whitehead of Carne on Miss Lady Candy Star in second and Denise Ryan of Lisduff on Shanacree Shela in third.

The RC100 graded was the next class into the ring and Christina Kavanagh on Russelstown Nightshade of Carne came out on top. Fellow Carne club mate Albert Whitehead on Knocknacree Juno was second with David Ryan of Warrington on Lawnview Diamond coming third.

The final class of the day was the RC100 Open class which was won by Fran Denny of Mill Road on Loydborough Lady ahead of his club mate Emma Meagher on Rulahisu Romeo and Thomastown and Districts Sarah Long on Cois Farraige.

The AIRC South East Spring Series has its first final of the year next week, 17th May in Tinahely Riding Club.
