JOHN Tilley, stable jockey at the Kilkenny International Sporthorses’ yard in Borris, added to his list of rides at the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show, when bagging two more qualifying tickets at Rincoola on Tuesday.
One was secured in the four-year-old working hunter horse class on Pat Mahon’s home-bred Irish Sport Horse gelding Crohanna Boy, while the other came in Section A of the similarly-aged young event horse qualifier, which he won on Prada KK (Castlefield Kingston - UC Casscade, by Cassidee). This ISH mare is owned by the rider’s partner, Andrew Williams, and Victoire von Schoen.
Tilley claimed the first ticket on offer on a score of 274.9 marks on the Seamus Cadden-bred Prada KK, with Luke Coen picking up the second on the Wellerman Syndicate’s ISH gelding Wellerman (270.2), a black son of Anchorman, who the rider has also qualified for the four-year-old working hunter horse class at Dublin.
There was a third ticket on offer here and it went to the ISH gelding Sportsfield Copacabana (269.4), a Cornetini bay out of a Telstar de la Pomme mare, who was ridden for Paul Donovan by Sara Lundkvist.
Gilford’s Steven Smith, who has an excellent record at Dublin, bagged himself another ticket for this year’s young event horse division, when narrowly winning Section B of this final four-year-old qualifier on his own ISH gelding Black And Blue (283.5). The James Loughlin-bred winner is by Phenomene Bleu VDM out of the Lancelot mare I Guinevere.
The only other ticket awarded here went to yet another ISH gelding owned by Paul Donovan, who was represented by four of the 20 entries in the four-year-old final last August. Ridden by Fraser Duffy, who accumulated 283.3 marks on the James Cassin-bred bay, Sportsfield Tiernan (registered as Boleybawn Tiernan) is by Carrabis Z out of the Condios mare Little Twiglet.
The ridden display at this final Dublin qualifier of the season was judged by Hayden Hankey and Heidi McCoy, the suitability and potential on the flat of the horses forward was assessed, as usual at this venue, by Adrian Murray, while Sally Corscadden scored them for suitability and potential in the jumping phase.
Hankey, who won both the four and five-year-old Burghley young event horse qualifiers at Bramham last month, will be officiating at the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show in August, as he is listed to judge the heavyweight hunters, the working hunter horses and the cob classes.
