THE third of the four qualifiers for the pony working hunter classes at the Dublin Horse Show was run by the Irish Pony Society last Sunday at the Knockagh View Equestrian Centre in Co Antrim, where the bad weather didn’t hit until late in the day.

Rosita Dunne, who finished second in the starter stakes final last August, guaranteed her place in the line-up again this year by following up her completions at Banner and Raheen na Gun with a win here on Fontmell Jack Sparrow (Carrwood Zeus - Fontmell Joie de Vivre, by Fontmell Race Against Time).

The 11-year-old Welsh gelding, who is owned by the rider’s grandmother and mother, Rosita and Marita Dunne, has 121 ShowJumping Ireland points to his credit from his days with the Cantwell family and also competes in Irish Pony Club activities with the Meath Hunt Branch. He won here on a total of 77.5 marks.

Nicky George Lyons Teehan has one hand on a ticket having finished fifth here on his mother Louise’s Tybroughney Cloud (69.5). However, he will have to complete on the 22-year-old grey gelding at the Sceilig Equestrian Centre on Wednesday, July 1st to ensure their qualification.

Lucy-Hope Ryan is also set to make a return to Dublin having fully qualified in first in Sunday’s 133cm class on the Declan Durack-bred Connemara gelding Diamond Shadow (Lishmar Shadow - Shannon Diamond, by Kilmore Diamond). Ryan and the six-year-old, who were awarded a clear winning score of 88 marks by judges Mairead (jump) and Kieran (conformation) Ryan, did a good bit of registered jumping in 2024 and 2025, but have not appeared on the SJI scene as yet this year.

Qualified symbols also appear beside the second, third and fifth here, May McLoughlin on Collette Gaffey’s six-year-old Connemara gelding Ardville Mattie K (81), Mark Brown with the 22-year-old bay gelding Maximilo (81) and Emma Glass with the 11-year-old Connemara gelding Paddy Tom (70.5).
