LORNA Murphy, who has just completed her final year of Equine Science at her local University of Limerick, won Section B of the Junior/Young Rider event horse class at Scarteen on Tuesday, with her Irish Sport Horse mare TikTok Kiwi (288.5 marks).
“We bought the mare as a three-year-old from her breeder (Kieran Kennedy) in 2022, producing her slowly since then alongside my trainer Eoin Ryan,” revealed Murphy. “The plan is to head to Millstreet International next month for the 2*, while giving her some national runs between now and Dublin.”
TikTok Kiwi (Vivant van de Heffinck - KEC Auckland, by Aldatus Z) has competed at two ShowJumping Ireland shows to date and in three EI110 classes, winning a four-runner Amateur class at Frankfort Stud in early May and finishing third of seven in similar company at Flowerhill later that month.
Myah McLean qualified in second on her father Campbell’s ISH gelding Annaghmore Cornoko (285.5). This seven-year-old HHS Cornet bay was previously campaigned for the McLeans by Steven Smith and has many EI wins to his credit. All but one of the 16 starters completed.
On a score of 286, Co Meath’s Kate Horgan won Section A with her mother Hannah’s Highview Shakespeare (Lagans OBOS Quality - Moyglass Covers Rosie, by Coevers Diamond Boy), who was bred in Co Clare by Vincent Mooney.
The seven-year-old ISH gelding, who twice finished fourth in Dublin last August, has had a varied start to the year, show jumping at 1.20m level and finishing second in his Intermediate working hunter class at Balmoral. Horgan has also been eventing the bay who, with a few cross-country time penalties, finished ninth of 25 in the CCIYH2*-S at Millstreet last month.
Riding for his mother Teresa, Adam Campbell qualified in second with the aptly-named ISH mare HVL Golden Girl (282.5), a seven-year-old Orestus chesnut, who has 34 ShowJumping Ireland points to her credit. Three of the 16 starters failed to complete.
