CASTLEFIELD Breeding Farm and Jimmy Lawler’s home-bred gelding JM Forever Red, by Tyson out of Real Caroline (Luidam), was guided to the win in the final six-year-old RDS Dublin Horse Show qualifier at Mullingar on Wednesday by Jason Foley.

The class, which was originally meant to be held over three rounds, was reduced to two for the 83 contenders trying for the 12 qualifying tickets on offer. Just 24 of the starters produced a first-round clear to progress to the jump-off. Of these, eight managed to remain fault-free in the decider, with Foley the fastest of these in 39.95.

The in-form Niamh McEvoy and the first of her two contenders, Gary and Leslie Hazlewood Triple T Farms’ mare Lucky Clover (My Lord Carthago x Captain Clover), bred by GBBS Int Ltd, took the runner-up spot, stopping the clock at 40.02.

Paul Lynch rode Alan Wheeler’s home-bred mare Cashless (Ard Vdl Douglas x Vdl Arkansas) into third place in 40.07. Eddie Moloney and his own mare Rathduff Dignified (Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet x Ramiro B), bred by Harry Quigley, took fourth place in 40.94.

Bulimba Sport Horses Limited’s Gypsy Pharo (Zirocco Blue Vdl x Cruising), bred by Joseph Allen and ridden by Harry Wood, was fifth in 41.02. Jason Foley earned his second qualifying place for his boss Ger O’Neill’s Castlefield Breeding Farm, when he and Castlefield Nore (Conthargos x Kannan) took sixth in 41.23.

Seventh place went to Zoe Mehigan riding John Lynch’s DSH Vigo Sea (Vigo D’Arsouilles x Guidam). Niamh McEvoy earned her second ticket of the class when she rode Michael Roche’s BP Othello (Ganesh Hero Z x Tygo), bred by Ennisnag Stud, into eighth.

The final four places went to Wesley Ryan riding his own and Annelies Loose’s Dutch-bred stallion Orvil Grandia with a single time fault in the jump-off; Kian Dore with Ardkyle Freestyle; Jack Ryan with There Van Heiste; and Tholm Keane riding Galwaybay Winningmood.
