A FEW riders at Tullylish on Tuesday chopped and changed between the event horse qualifiers and the newly-introduced working hunter qualifiers, one of whom - Co Down’s Jackson Laing - managed to ride a winner under both codes.
His willing partner on 310 points in Section A of the Junior/Young Rider event horse class was Natasha McCarthy’s seven-year-old Irish Sport Horse mare Desdemona (Cormint - Titania B, by Ramiro B), on whom he finished sixth of 20 in the EI100 at Glenpatrick on Saturday.
Kilkenny-based Canadian rider Nadia Sabot qualified in second here on her own ISH gelding Sportsfield Supreme (307.5), a six-year-old bay by Ganesh Hero Z, who she has been competing under Eventing Ireland rules since the summer of last year. They qualified for Dublin here last year.
Laing did bag a ticket, but had to settle for second (278) in Section B, where Myah McLean claimed the honours on 279 riding her own Luidams Limited Edition (Luidam - Lady Cally Of Lisbeg, by Clover Echo). She and the seven-year-old ISH gelding also finished a place in front of Laing in that EI100 at Glenpatrick.
