PATRICK Whelan kept up the good run for local riders at Forth Mountain on Tuesday, when winning Section A of the five-year-old Young Eventhorse Series qualifier on Denise Murray’s Dolmen Dulcet Tone.

The winning Irish Sport Horse mare, who was bred in Co Wexford by the late Jack Murphy, is by Rock ‘N Roll Ter Putte out of the Quantino mare Dolmen Different Class. The bay, who completed here on 310.8 marks, had a fence down show jumping in both her runs to date at EI100 level but, last month at Millstreet, she qualified for the Burghley Young Event Horse final in early September.

On 307.5 marks, Luca Bortolamei qualified in second with Carol Gee’s Fernhill Junior, a dun ISH gelding by Je t’Aime Flamenco out of a Ricardo Z mare. This combination will be making a return visit to Dublin, having qualified for the four-year-old final last August.

Alice Copithorne failed to qualify for the Traditional Irish Horse working hunter class at the Dublin Horse Show on Tuesday with Castleview Lady Cruise but, on a score of 312.6, had little trouble bagging a ticket in Section B of the five-year-old young event horse qualifier on Jamie Byrnes’s home-bred ISH mare.

The bay, who finished third in her two Eventing Ireland starts, the EI90 at Lisgarvan House and the EI100 at Flowerhill 1, is by Oldtown KC out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Lady Seville. The latter finished down the field in her two starts as a three-year-old, when trained by Tommy Stack.

Fraser Duffy is due to make a return visit to Dublin with Paul Donovan’s ISH gelding Sportsfield Forever, a Lagans OBOS Quality bay who qualified in second on 311.5 marks. Emily Singleton came in for the ride on Nicky Potterton’s home-bred ISH gelding Stellor Showtime and made the most of the opportunity when qualifying in third (309.2) with the Cascari bay.

Jane Whitaker and Bernie Webb judged the ridden display in these five-year-old classes, with Lulu Parkhill maintaining her role as the suitability and potential judge in this phase. Tom Walsh was the suitability and potential judge for the jumping phase.

The fourth and final Young Eventhorse Series qualifier takes place on Tuesday week, June 30th, at Rincoola.
