MANY congratulations to Ruby Collins, a member of the Louth Hunt Branch of the Irish Pony Club, who recently won both the Under 21 and Senior TSI national airgun championships held at the Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club in Co Meath.
The 14-year-old, who takes part in Branch and Area activities with her pony Sky, developed a passion for shooting in 2023 through the Pony Club and has held the Under 21 title each year since 2024. In February, she represented Ireland internationally for the first time over three days at Intershoot in The Netherlands, finishing sixth in two finals.
Ruby is coached by Geoff Cooney and Matt Fox, while her biggest supporter is her mother Suzanne, who will accompany her daughter to Poland in August should Ruby be selected for the European Under 23 championships.
Following her bronze medal-finish in the Under 20 women’s European cross-country championships in Portugal towards the end of last year, Wexford Branch member Emma Hickey was among those honoured by Athletics Ireland at the organisation’s 2025 Juvenile All Star Awards held in the Mullingar Park Hotel last Saturday. Emma is the reigning Defender Irish Pony Club senior girls’ national tetrathlon champion.
