FOLLOWING 12 months’ dedicated fundraising by branches of the Irish Pony Club, a cheque for €55,887.55 was presented to the Irish Cancer Society last Sunday at the Carr & Day & Martin-sponsored IPC National Triathlon in Athy.

“Throughout 2025, branches embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, organising creative and inspiring fundraising initiatives for the Irish Cancer Society, and the Committee are keen to applaud their incredible efforts,” said fundraiser spokesperson Katie Tobin. “We are immensely proud of what has been achieved by the Irish Pony Club in support of such a vital organisation and we know these funds will help provide essential services to those who need them most.”

The Irish Cancer Society was represented at the National Triathlon by Brian Flood, who was impressed by the commitment these young athletes put into all aspects of this sport, from 5am starts in the pool to running in challenging weather conditions. Thankfully, the sun made an appearance on Sunday, when 275 IPC members competed across four age groups. While the majority of the fundraising committee were present for the cheque presentation, two key members, Karen Hennessy and Anita O’Donoghue, were unable to attend.
