IT was quite a weekend for young horse producer Jonny Mulligan who, on Sunday, qualified his father Robert’s five-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Templeforde Lucca for the Balmoral Star Of The Future performance horse championship.

The qualifier was held at Lusk Equestrian Centre, where the pressure was off Jonny as, on Friday evening, he had the more demanding task of assisting his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Margot as she made her show jumping debut.

The perfect result was achieved when Margot recorded a double clear on Brownie and went home with a very special red rosette.

Jonny’s partner, and Margot’s mother, Yasmin Graham, was charged with recording the occasion for posterity.
